Bindi Irwin Asked For Her Dead Father’s Signature on DWTS Contract to Get Paid

Bindi Irwin may be the front runner on Dancing With the Stars, but it seems there are major problems with her contract for the hit reality series.

While all of the i’s should have been dotted and the t’s on Irwin’s Dancing With the Stars contract crossed before the show began, it turns out, that was not the case.

In order for Irwin to appear on the show, a minor’s contract had to be signed. Lawyers for the show submitted a minor’s contract to an L.A. Superior Court judge as it is required because Bindi is only 17. Her mother signed off on the form, giving up all rights to the money her daughter will make on the show.

Sounds easy, right? Apparently a judge, who clearly isn’t familiar with Bindi Irwin’s father, Steve Irwin, is asking for a release from her father. Only her dad is dead. The judge said without proof of Steve giving up his rights to Bindi’s money, “the court is unable to find that it is in the best interest of the minor to be bound by the terms of the contract.” Ridiculous?? The judge should have asked why Steve Irwin didn’t sign the form and he would have found out that he passed away. A death certificate could have cleared it all up.

In the meantime, Bindi is set to make a handsome sum of money as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. The breakdown for her pay is as follows:

  • $125k – Just for appearing on the show
  • $10K per week if she makes it to weeks 3 and 4
  • $15k for week 5
  • 20K for weeks 6 and 7
  • $30k a week for weeks 8 and 9
  • $50K for weeks 10 and 11

So far, Bindi has made it through week 8, so her total so far is $230k. That’s definitely no chump change for a 17 year old teen.
