Brothers & Sisters ReCap 11/8/09 – The Wig Party

Kitty’s cancer becomes a reality in “The Wig”.  And of course – not a good one.  Kitty is thinking about alternatives to chemotherapy.   She believes that her Type-A personality may be behind her cancer.  She feels that if she somehow gave cancer the opportunity to grow in her body then she has the responsibility to change it/  Sarah tries to show support, but when Kitty catches her arguing with Nora, she feels that neither of them is taking her seriously and just wants to be left alone.

Scotty’s dad shows up in a mask and cape.   There’s a comic book convention in town and he likes to dress the part.   Unfortunately, Superdad has bad news for his son when he announces that his mother left him.  Scotty is upset by their separation but enjoys the time he is spending with his dad.   Scotty tells his father about his plans to have a baby and the financial difficulties they are having.

When Scotty sees his father with a woman, he eventually figures out that she’s the reason his mom left and leaves  in a huff.   He later realizes that his dad was never happy with his mom.   A package arrives from Scotty’s dad.   It’s a valuable Captain America comic book.   The note reads, “Scotty, here’s something to help you guys pay for the baby. Call me when you’re ready. I love you, Dad.”

Robert has a new candidate to contend with – a racist  named Barry Henderson.    Kevin advises Robert not to get into anything with Henderson at an upcoming unemployment symposium.   Robert complies – briefly.  Afterwards when  Henderson taunts him, Robert lets him have it.   He tells Henderson that if he keeps up his racist, xenophobic garbage he’ll take him down and it won’t be pretty.     Kevin discovers that the rant was caught on camera.   Now others who share Henderson’s views will be lining up to fund his campaign. Robert doesn’t regret what he said because it was the truth.

Nora is running a cancer benefit when she meets Simon Craig (guest star Jon Tenney), an oncologist who is volunteering at the center.  Simon thinks she needs to clear her head, so he offers her a ride on his motorcycle.   Suprisingly –  Nora agrees. Simon is definitely attractive – go for it Nora!  At the cancer benefit, Simon asks Nora out on a second date.

As Nora gives her speech, Kitty runs her fingers through her hair and it falling out in clumps.   Kitty needs to go home. The rest of the family watches as she and Robert walk out of the benefit.   He puts his arm around his wife and says, “I got your back.”

Rebecca has had the “flu”. Justin is concerned that it may be something more serious.   After a chat with Simon, he realizes the simplest diagnosis might be the correct one.   He asks, “Are you pregnant?”   She says she isn’t – and then takes a pregnancy test.  It looks positive.  At the same time Justin tells her how happy he is that she isn’t pregnant because his life is too crazy right now for a baby.  This should open up an interesting story line for the couple.

At home, Kitty shaves off all her hair.   Nora and Sarah wait outside the bathroom door for support.   Kitty emerges from the bathroom.  Their eyes open wide with amazement.   A completely bald Kitty says, “I look like an Ojai peach.”  Nora says, “I think you have the most beautifully shaped head.”  Now that’s a mom for you!!

What do you think will happen with Rebecca’s pregancy??  Do you think Kitty will keep on the alternative road to cancer??
