Wearing a beautiful sexy red dress, Charlize Theron was among the big names gracing the 2010 Soccer World Cup Final Draw at the CTICC in Cape Town, South Africa on Friday (December 4).

Theron joined sporting superstars and world leaders including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, David Beckham, Haile Gebrselassie and Eusébio during a lengthy televised event to unveil matchups for next year’s tournament.

Beckham got a head start on his trip to South Africa, having had time to do some charity work with kids after arriving a few days ago. David, who’s hoping to play in the tournament, might end up playing with the English team as they battle the USA in the first round.  More photos after the jump!! New York stores were jammed  for Fashion’s Night Out, where shoppers rubbed elbows with celebrities. 

The event was the brainchild of Vogue Editor Anna Wintour with the hope that the event would help at the cash register during New York Fashion Week, which opened Thursday.

The Olsen twins were at Bergdorf Goodman, Justin Timberlake made an appearance at Saks, Charlize Theron at Dior, Kate Hudson at Stella McCartney and Hugh Jackman at Jeffrey.  Taylor Momsem performed at the Teen Vogue event and Oscar de la Renta was singing to loyal customers. Salma Hayek’s  wedding to French billionaire François-Henri took place on Saturday at Venice’s Teatro La Fenice opera house.

The music kicked in during the ceremony, when the 150 guests – among them Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Ed Norton, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Stella McCartney and Ashley Judd - serenaded the couple with a Hawaiian-style version of the sentimental classic from The Wizard of Oz, “Over the Rainbow.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Grand Opening of the Atlantis, Dubais was a star-studded event. It was said to cost $13.5 million lbs. That is a lot of MONEY!!

Times Online reported that approximately 2,000 guests sipped Dom Pérignon. A-list celebrities from Charlize Theron, Robert De Niro, Mary-Kate Olsen, Mischa Barton to Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson walked the red carpet.

Singer Kylie Minogue performed on stage followed by the world’s largest fireworks display, seven times greater than this year’s Olympic Games opening ceremony in Beijing and extravagant enough to be seen from outer space.

MSNBC has reported that Charlize Theron is the newest U.N. Messenger of Peace. Charlize is turning her Academy Award-winning fame to ending violence against women and girls around the globe.

Theron told reporters that she was taking on her new responsibilities,

“very humbly, with a very excited heart.”

She also vowed to help send a strong message that violence against women and girls was not acceptable.

Charlize grew up in a home with domestic violence. At the age of 15 she witnessed her mother shoot her alcoholic father to death while he was threatening the family. She also won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2004 for her portrayal of a domestic violence victim turned serial killer in “Monster.”

I think its great that Charlize is taking on this new role. It’s an important message that needs to be heard.
