had a heartfelt interview with Newsweek Magazine where she speaks about Heath Ledger, her ex-boyfriend and father to her daughter, Matilda and the paparazzi.

Michelle Williams has been all over the tabloids since her ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger died from a prescription overdose last January.   Photographers have stalked Michelle and her 3-year-old daughter, Matilda, to the point where she’s now spending some time in a farmhouse in upstate New York just to escape.

Michelle still finds it difficult to talk about Heath Ledger.  The first time Ledger’s name comes up, she bursts into tears.  Here’s some of what Michelle had to say in her Newsweek Interview.

 ”It’s so sad,”

When she’s asked about how she’s been doing in the past year, she says

“I guess it’s always changing.  What else can I say?  I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that’s what I mean by ‘it’s always changing’.  It’s a strange thing to say because I’m at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It’s just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That’s what I would say.”

As for the paparazzi – Michelle said that if they won’t leave her alone she may just have to leave them behind. She says she’ll quit acting, if that’s what it takes to get her life back.

As for her daughter, Matilda, the love of her life.  For now, Williams is taking a year off to focus on being Matilda’s mom.

When everything is said and done – that’s all that really matters.  Matilda.
