Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in this music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s: The Runaways, which opens in theatres today, March 19.

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning attend the New York Premiere of  ‘The Runaways’ last night (March 17th) at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.

The Runaways were an all-girl teenage rock band from the 1970’s.  The foursome broke musical boundaries with their rebellious attitudes, naughty-girl personas and catchy guitar hooks.  The band’s career lasted from 1975 to 1979.

‘The Runaways’ opens in theatres on Friday, March 19th.

Kristen Stewart looked amazing as she walked the red carpet for the Oscar ceremony, in a strapless midnight blue silk satin organza gown by Monique Lhuillier .  The 82nd annual Academy Awards were held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 7).

The 19-year-old actress will be presenting for this year’s horror films with costar Taylor Lautner.  What do you think of the gown Kristen is wearing??

Kristen Stewart attended the 2010 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards on Sunday (Feb. 21) at The Royal Opera  House in London, England.

The New Moon actress won the Orange Rising Star Award, beating out the other nominees Carey Mulligan, Jesse Eisenberg, Nicholas Hoult and Tahar Rahim.

Co-star and beau Robert Pattinson arrived separately from Kristen, he was not nominated this year but was a presenter at the ceremony.

The 19-year-old actress looked lovely in her strapless Chanel dress as she thanked her fans (see video below).

Kristen Stewart attended the premiere of  ‘Yellow Handkerchief’ held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Calif., on Thursday evening (February 18).  Stewart looked beautiful in a crystal sided Azzaro’s dress.

‘Yellow Handkerchief ‘ follows three strangers of two generations who embark on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana.   Along the way, relationships forge and change in a myriad of ways, leading to the possibility of second chances at life and love.  ‘Yellow Hankerchief’ also stars William Hurt.

The movie will be out next Friday, February 26, 2010.
