Chris Brown was formally sentenced in a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday to six months of community labor in Virginia after he pleaded guilty in June to one count of felony assault against then girlfriend Rihanna. Brown’s six-month labor sentence will include graffiti removal, cleaning and maintaining grounds, and washing cars.

Brown was also sentenced to five years of probation, a year of domestic violence classes, and was ordered to pay fines. He was accompanied in the courtroom by his mother and at least one bodyguard.

An attorney for Rihanna had previously asked the judge for lesser restrictions on communication and contact between the two singers.

However, the judge ordered Brown not to have any communication with Rihanna for the next five years, which includes phone and email contact.   Brown was also ordered not to come within 100 yards of Rihanna – 10 yards if they’re both at the same event.

The judge warned Brown that any violation of this order is a violation of his probation and it comes with the possible penalty of prison.

TMZ.com posted an exclusive video of Chris Brown.   In the video Chris Brown apologizes for beating Rihanna earlier this year.

“Hi, I’m Chris Brown,” he begins. “Since February my attorney has advised me not to speak out, even though since the incident I wanted to publicly express my deepest regret and accept full responsibility.

After pleading guilty to one count of felony assault last month – Brown states that he has turned a new leaf since that fateful night at the 2009 grammys.

 ”As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence, and I saw first-hand what uncontrolled rage could do. I have sought and I am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again.”

Chris Brown copped a plea today and managed to avoid jail time for the now infamous Feb. 8 altercation between Brown and Rihanna.

Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and was put on five years’ probation and ordered to enroll in an anti-domestic violence program. He must perform 180 days of community service and must have all his travel vetted by a probation officer.

The announcement came as Rihanna waited in a private area of the criminal courts building. Rihanna was prepared to lay out her version of what happened following a Grammy Awards pre-party, if she were called to the stand.

But her testimony ultimately wasn’t required.

The judge told Brown, “I think it’s commendable you took responsibility for your conduct”

And to that I say – it’s about time!!

Rihanna and Chris Brown attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Orlando last night.

While they both attended the game  - they did not attend the event together.   The one time couple opted for seats in separate sections.   During half time, each retreated to separate private lounges.

The outing comes just two days after Rihanna was subpoenaed to appear in court to testify in the assault case against Brown and a day after she was out with Aubrey “Drake” Graham, the Canadian rapper to whom she’s been linked.

The couple, whose relationship has been on-again-off-again since Brown allegedly attacked Rihanna in February, were last known to be together in April in LA.

Chris Brown took to You Tube to promote his new album, Grafitti and to tell everyone he is not a monster (in case you were wondering).

 The baby-faced R&B singer accused of beating his pop-singing girlfriend Rihanna in February is finally speaking out in his own voice on a new YouTube video.

“I just want to say ‘What up’ because I ain’t been out there in a minute,” Brown says.

“We ain’t going nowhere.  Everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love you all. I ain’t a monster.”

He plugs his new album Graffiti and promises to release a single this summer.
