Ugly Betty will end its four-year run this spring.

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion,” series creator Silvio Horta and ABC Entertainment Group President Stephen McPherson said in a joint statement. “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

Ugly Betty won three Emmys, including a best actress in a comedy series award for star America Ferrera and two Golden Globes for best comedy series and best actress in a comedy, all in 2007.  

The series just moved to Wednesdays following a dismal showing on Fridays earlier this season.

America Ferrera was seen filming in NY for the upcoming season of Ugly Betty.

Ugly Betty has gotten a bit of a makeover this season.   The executives at ABC television  weren’t kidding when they told fans that America Ferrera’s character was going to be debuting a new look this season.

The shift makes sense with the show’s plot line as Betty has just been promoted to a job as Features Editor at Mode magazine.   No longer a lowly assistant, she has to step up her style game in order to accurately reflect her new found status on the staff.

Betty is definitely a bit more stylish this season but will still be rocking her trademark braces.   Betty is even keeping her glasses and ankle socks.
