Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester Signs Singing Deal

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has been plotting a music career for a while now.  It seems that all the plotting has paid off.  She has signed with Universal Republic records and her debut album will launch in the fall, the label announced today.

Leighton Meester released a cover of Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes” earlier this month and has been in the recording studio since March.   Her vocal stylings are being touted as “electro-pop edge.”
