Have U Heard??

On Feb. 20, 2010, Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum hosted Pop-Con, an all-day music festival experience for tweens with multiple stages, various vendors and games with the amenities of a family-friendly convention environment.

Featuring over half-a-dozen musical artists, Pop-Con aimed to be the pop event with the stars the kids want to see.  The event definitely achieved it’s goal with performances by Care Bears on Fire, Joey Page, Meadowland, Push Play, Nat and Alex Wolf, Tiffany Giardina, Vita Chambers, Wow and many more.

Sean Kingston was listed as a special performer but ended up being a no-show.  This wasn’t cause for concern as 99.99% of the kids were there to see Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.   Based on the level of screaming – it is safe to say that Bieber and Gomez were a hit!!  A huge hit!!

The event official started at 1:00 in the exhibit hall.  The exhibit hall had vendors selling t-shirts from the various artists and a stage set up for karaoke for the tweens to show off their singing skills.  With two stages set up the musical performances were on-going from 1:50pm – 8:30pm.  More than 6 hours of music.  A bit long for the parents and for some of the younger attendees.  Ilyssa, 10 from Wantagh, stated, “The concert was great – but I didn’t like waiting so many hours for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez”.

Pop-Con explained the event as more than just a concert experience, with gaming stations, product sampling and vendors, including a “Culture Mall” that was said to bring in big name independent fashion merchandise companies.  In addition, the event had paid programmed lectures and seminars for young, aspiring artists,  looking to get advice from top industry professionals and stars of sports and screen.

While the event was more than a concert experience with a number of vendors.  Fashionable merchandise was limited to t-shirts that were sold by the bands.  There were free meet and greets with some of the artists but in order to meet the huge stars of the show, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, a special ticket needed to be purchased.

 Thank you to Live Nation for providing the tickets for Have U Heard to review the event.  It was a great event and based on the level of activity and screams from the attendees a huge success!!

Justin Bieber brought Selena Gomez on stage to sing his hit single One Less Lonely Girl to her during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Las Vegas on Thursday night (Dec. 31).
Selena sang along and the teen heartthrob finished the song with a hug for Selena.

Disney Channel presented the world premiere of Selena Gomez and The Scene’s second music video, “Naturally,” from her debut album, “Kiss & Tell,”.

“Kiss & Tell” from Hollywood Records debuted in the Billboard Top 10.  “Naturally” is available as a digital single on iTunes and Gomez is scheduled to perform the song on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010.”

Selena Gomez looked lovely in a silver Talbot Runhof  dress when she attended the 2009 American Music Awards. 

The 17-year-old Disney star presented an award during the night’s ceremony.

Selena Gomez, star of Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place spent Sunday(Oct. 25) at the Disneyland Resort.  The 17-year-old actress enjoyed the beautiful day with friends.   

Gomez just finished her album, “Kiss and Tell,”, and is launching  her new fashion line, Dream Out Loud.

Selena Gomez took the stage at The Roxy in Los Angeles on Saturday (September 26). In these photos,  the Wizards of Waverly Place star and her bandmates arrive at the popular venue for her first official concert.

Thrilled with her concert and her fans Selena took to her Twitter, writing, “Thank you all SO much for the fans that came!! I hope yall had a great time! Thank you for making my 1st show ever one I’ll never forget!!!”

Continuing on with her gratitude, the 17-year-old added, “And to my beautiful family and friends that were there to support me! Thank you! thank you! I love you guys so much!”

The Disney actress and singer will be a guest this Tuesday on ABC’s  Dancing With the Stars, results show.

In other news Selena has been rumored to be dating Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner.  I think they make a cute couple.  What are your thoughts?

The 2009 Alma Awards were held on Thursday night, September 17, at the Royce Auditorium in Los Angles and televised last night (September 18, 2009) on ABC.   The Alma Awards celebrate the achievements of all those people who have made outstanding contributions in the field of entertainment, among the Latinos.  This year the show was hosted by the gorgeous Eva Longoria Parker and George Lopez.

This year’s ALMA Awards boasted performances by such big names as Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Sean Kingston, David Archuleta and Pitbull.

Presenters included Adam Rodriguez, Benjamin Bratt, Dania Ramirez and Michelle Rodriguez.

Selena Gomez from Disney’s “Wizards Of Waverly Place” received the honors for the Best Actress in television.

David Archuleta received an award for the Male Music Rising star.

Actress Salma Hayek received the Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellance for her outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry over the years.
