American Idol’s Top 12 go head to head for the first time tonight, March 16, 2010.   The top six ladies and the top six men sang a Rolling Stones song. Who sang it best??

Michael Lynche – sang ‘Miss You’.  Randy said Michael was a great performer and really kicked off the show.  Ellen said he was amazing.  Kara said the message of the song was conveyed and he was hot on stage.  Simon thought the performance at times was kind of corny.  He sang it well but it was a tiny bit desperate.

Didi Benami -   Didi sang, ‘Play With Fire’.  Randy thought it was one of Didi’s best performances.  Ellen thought she did great.  Kara liked the intensity of the song and Simon agreed with everyone and thought it was a solid, not brilliant performance.

Casey James – sang ‘It’s All Over Now’.  Randy said the Casey that he loves is back.  Ellen thought it was fantastic.  Kara thought he was a rock star and Simon thought Casey was good – not incredible.  He needs to push himself.

Lacey Brown – sang ‘Ruby Tuesday’.  Randy said he was pleasantly surprised and it was an interesting performance.  Ellen thought the performance was a bit sleepy.  Kara thought her voice was good but there were issues with hitting the notes.  Simon thought Lacey performs like an actress and she needs to stop thinking and let go. American Idol Recap 3/10/10 – The Final 8 Men

March 10th, 2010 Shari Posted in American Idol, Television Shows 1 Comment »

It’s the guys turn on American Idol tonight.  It is time for the top 8 guys to make one last attempt to secure their spots in the Top 12.   Will your favorites bring it home tonight and show us that they have what it takes?   Or will this be the week that they unfortunately get cut?

Lee Dewyze - sang ‘Fireflies’ by Owl City.  Randy said there were a couple of pitch problems but he made it work.  Ellen liked that he made it a bit rock.  Kara saw the confidence that Lee exhibited and it made it a better song.  Simon thought there was nothing to rave about.

Alex Lambert – sang ‘Trouble’.  Randy thought it was a good song choice but he wasn’t wowed by it.  Ellen thinks Alex is becoming a mushy banana – he is ripening so quickly.  Kara said the only thing standing in the way of him winning is himself.  Simon thinks he needs to relax and enjoy himself.

Tim Urban – sang ‘Hallelujah’ by Jeff Buckly.  Randy thinks he did a good job.  Ellen got up and gave him a hug.  Kara thinks he is in it and he may be on the top of the boys.   Simon feels responsible for Tim doing well since he gave him a confidence boost.

Andrew Garcia – sang  ‘Genie in a Bottle’ by Christina Aguilera.  Randy thought it was an interesting song choice but it was too pitchy.  Read the rest of this entry »

American Idol Recap 3/9/10 – Ladies Night

March 9th, 2010 Shari Posted in American Idol, Television Shows No Comments »

We are down to the final 8 ladies on American Idol.  The competition is getting fierce.  This week’s performances really matter and the judges made sure to tell the ladies that – as if the pressure wasn’t already enough.

Katie Stevens - sang ‘BreakAway’ by Kelly Clarkson.   Randy thought it didn’t work for him and Kelly Clarkson was much better than she Katie.  Ellen thought she needed more personality.  Kara feels that Katelyn doesn’t know who she is.  Simon thinks Katelyn hasn’t decided what type of artist she wants to be.

Siobhan Magnus – sang ‘House of the Rising Sun’ by The Animals.  Randy thought she takes risks and chances and it paid off.  Ellen said the music moved her.  Kara said she loved it and finds Siobhan so unique and different.   Simon didn’t agree and was under impressed.  He found it dark and boring.

Lacey Brown – sang ‘The Story’ Read the rest of this entry »

March 3rd, 2010 Shari Posted in American Idol, Television Shows 1 Comment »

It’s Ladies Night on American Idol.  The top 10 remaining ladies sang their hearts out and did a great job!!

Crystal Bowersox– sang ‘Long As I Can See the Light’ by Creedence Clearwater.  Randy loves that Crystal is original and he loves her.  Ellen thinks she has pure, raw natural talent.  Kara thought she reached a new level and Simon admitted that he misunderestimated (is that even a word?) her last week.

Haeley Vaughn - sang ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus.  Randy thought it was excruciating.  Ellen thought it was not a good song choice and Kara thinks that Haeley needs another year of work on her voice.  Simon felt it was a complete and utter mess.

Lacey Brown – sang ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence.  Kara had suggested Lacey sing this song last week and she felt that this song helped bring her tone back.  Randy felt as though he was watching karaoke.  Ellen thought it was adoreable.  Simon thought it was forgettable.

Katie Stevens- sang ‘Put Your Records On’ by The Chipettes.  Read the rest of this entry »

American Idol Recap 3/2/10 – The Top 10 Guys Sing

March 2nd, 2010 Shari Posted in American Idol, Television Shows No Comments »

The American Idol top 10 guys sang tonight.   The ladies were supposed to perform tonight but Crystal Bowersox was brought to the hospital and could not perform under doctors orders.

The men showed a lot of improvement from last week.  Here are the top 10:

John Park  – sang ‘Gravity’ by John Mayer.  Randy didn’t see anything special about it, Ellen thought it could have had more soul and Kara thought it was way better than last week.  Simon thought it was better than last week but believes the performance was forgettable.

Casey James- sang  ‘I Don’t Want to Be’ by Gavin McGraw.   This song is a popular choice among American Idol contestants – it was previously sang by Bo Bice, Elliot Yamin, and Chris Richardson.  Randy felt it was the kind of music that was perfect for Casey.  Ellen thought it was a great song and that Casey sounded great but that he was too stiff.  Kara,  who loves Casey, said that Casey took two steps back in her eyes.  The singing wasn’t very good.  Simon agreed with Kara and felt that Casey turned into someone “trying” to be a rock star.

Alex Lambert – sang ‘Everybody Knows’ by John Legend.  Read the rest of this entry »
