The 1950s and 1960s really were the golden days of animation. Before the Disney renaissance in the ’90s, the cartoons that aired on American television in the middle of the century were popular and in high demand. Many of the most popular franchises and characters we have today got their start in cartoon form in the ’50s and ’60s.

The Jetsons takes place in the year 2062. Here’s a fun fact for you: we’re actually closer to 2062 now than we are to 1962, which is the year that The Jetsons first aired. We’re living in the future!

If that doesn’t make you feel old, I don’t know what will. Through this show, kids could imagine what a family in the future might look like. People would have flying cars and robot maids and food in pill form.
