Update:

Sheen posted an $8,500 bond Friday evening, and was released from jail at 7 p.m.   The actor is due in court next on Feb. 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.

Charlie Sheen has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife.

The alleged victim was Sheen’s wife, Brooke Mueller.  Sheen was arrested today in Aspen, Colorado, and was being held in jail according to TMZ.com.

Police had responded to an emergency call at 8:34am (Colorado time), it was reported.   They had arrested Sheen for felony second degree assault, felony manacing and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Sheen’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said: “Don’t be mislead by appearances. Appearances and reality can be as different as night and day.”

While Mueller called 911 claiming Sheen assaulted her.  Sheen told law enforcement that Brooke was the aggressor and he was just fending her off.
The issue will be who started it.

Sheen will remain in jail until he is seen by a judge.
