Have U Heard??

Tonight’s episode of Desperate Housewive’s begins with Mary Alice talking about “housewives”. 

“There’s a certain kind of woman you see in the suburbs.  She waits in her bathrobe for the school bus, she stops by the post office with curlers in her hair, she goes to the market in sweatpants and a t-shirt.  This woman is a housewife and she doesn’t try being beautiful…….. because it’s a waste of time.”

Gaby, Carlos, Ana and the kids happen to be dining in John’s (the hot gardener who Gaby had an affair with) restaurant.  Gaby has her hair up and creamed spinach on her shirt.  After speaking with John she takes her hair down and tries to make herself more presentable.  To this Mary Alice continued, 

“Yes – there’s a certain kind of woman you only meet in the suburbs – she will try to look beautiful if she has someone to look beautiful for.”

As a housewife myself – I take offense to the opening monologue.  How about  looking beautiful for yourself – does it have to be for a man??  (We just attended the Tween Summit where it was all about empowering girls (future woman) – so I will get off my soapbox and continue with the recap.)

Ana got a job as a hostess at John’s restaurant, much to Gaby’s unhappiness! Gaby convinced Carlos that she was no longer interested in John, but later we discovered that she kept a hidden photo of the two of them.

Susan was very upset that Bob decided to defend the Bolen kid, Danny, who was still a suspect in strangling Julie.  Bob was upset that the Bolens wanted to avoid talking about their past, even if it would save Danny from prison time.   Danny tells Bob that the family has secrets and storms out of the house.  Angie tried to talk to Susan about Danny but Susan refuse to speak in private and warned the neighborhood that they living among a very dangerous person.  Susan later confronted Danny, but Angie scared her away.   Susan badmouthed the Bolens throughout town and they got hate calls and trash thrown on their front lawn. But, later, Danny was cleared as a suspect and Susan was asking Angie for forgiveness.

Karl was developing emotional feelings toward Bree and tried to make her jealous when they both attended a social function with Bree with Orson and Karl with Orson’s former dental patient, Candace.   Bree’s jealousy reached a fever pitch when Karl said that he was going to take her to the same motel where they were having their rendezvous and Bree spilled oil on the dance floor when Orson and Candace were dancing which caused Candace to suffered a broken nose!   Oops.   Orson thought that Bree was jealous of Candace!   Later, Bree decided to take that Vegas weekend trip with Karl that she thought was only for men that she was in love with.

Lynette and Tom told their kids that Lynette was pregnant.  The children’s reactions were quite comical with one of her son’s asking if she was the world oldest mom and the oldest son telling them that they were irresponsible and should have used birth control. He tells Tom he is never going to graduate from college.   He tells them they destroyed their futures for a few minutes of pleasure. 

Lynette got a promotion from Carlos, but she discovered that he was not fond of pregnant VPs!   All of this led to a very funny evening with Carlos’ clients who happen to own a vineyard and served their wine to Lynette who couldn’t drink.  Tom created diversions that had him drinking to excess and Lynette free from any alcohol consumption! Lynette did not tell Carlos the truth yet.
