Desperate Housewives ReCap 11/8/09 ‘Careful The Things You Say’

Desperate Housewives started out with a bit of a surprise – at least for me. Julie Meyer’s ex-boyfriend/neighbor Nick met when Nick asked Julie to tutor his son, Danny. A chance encounter at a cafe led to hours of conversation and an affair. After a close call with a pregnancy scare – Julie ended things with Nick. Nick refuses to let go and pays Julie a visit. Lanette interrupts Julie and Nick arguing when Julie confesses to Lanette that Nick is “the guy”. Lanette’s reaction was funny – asking Julie why she told her. She didn’t need to know Nick was ” the guy” – now she feels obligated to tell Susan but promises not to.
Lanette confronts Nick and tells him to stop bothering Julie. Nick threatens Lanette that if anyone finds out about him and Julie she is going to be sorry. Lanette and Tom tell Julie that they think Nick is the person who strangled her and go to the police and tell them also.
Angie confronts Nick about his affair with Julie. Since Angie and Nick are stuck together she tells him she is giving him a pass – just this once. And then punches him in the nose telling him “now they’re okay”.

Gaby is still struggling with home schooling Juanita. Carlos offers up help – a housekeeper. Gaby would prefer to clean the toilets than tutor Juanita – toilets don’t talk back. Carlos comes home to a messy home but a happy child who knows fractions (thanks to the housekeeper). Carlos has the housekeeper fired but Gaby finds her cleaning another house and convinces her to tutor Juanita. In exchange Gaby mops the floors. Carlos finds out that the housekeeper is Juanita’s tutor and Gaby confesses that the home schooling is ruining her relationship with Juanita.
Mike and Susan try to convince the police to look into the possibility of Catherine strangling Julie. The person that looks into the case is an old classmate of Susan’s who seems to be a bit of jealous of Susan’s life. It turns out that Susan gave the policewoman her high school nickname, Moose. She ends up arresting Susan for “accidentally” shooting Catherine.
Orson and Bree begrudgingly go to Angie and Nick’s house for dinner. Angie and Nick invited them over because Angie wants to work for Bree. Bree says no and the evening goes downhill from there. When a prospective customer comes in wanting “simple” food – Bree offers them Italian food. Bree requests the recipe from Angie and Angie gives them to her under duress but tells her not to share the recipe. Angie walks in on Bree cooking her recipes, gets mad – and takes the recipes back. Bree apologizes to Angie and asks her to work for her.
Angie asks Bree why she doesn’t like her – to which Bree responds that she doesn’t know how to handle someone who is as candid as Angie is and who fights with her husband in front of people. After their candid conversation – Angie agrees to work for Bree.
Another great episode of Desperate Housewives – be sure to come back tomorrow for Have U Heard’s interview with Marcia Cross – who admits to not being anything like Bree.
