DWTS, Season 9, Week 6, ReCap 10/26/09

This week the Dancing With the Stars couples either danced the waltz or the jitterbug. They also participated in the first ever dance off. The first dance off was the Mambo Knockout, where each couple danced against each other and get kicked out based on how well (or bad!) they danced.
The following couples danced the waltz:
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff
Judges Comments: Bruno said Aaron lost his footing a couple of times but it was good. Carrie Ann said it was beautiful but they did lose their footing. An A for effort. Len told Aaron that he danced with maturity and there was a great connection between the two of them and he thought it was their best dance.
Score: 25/30 + 8 points for dance off
Total Score = 33
Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas
Judges Comments: Bruno said that for week 6 it was not good. There was no flow to the dance and her posture was bad. Carrie Ann felt the Waltz was rigid. Len felt the technique had some issues but that the other judges were a bit harsh.
Score: 20/30 + 4 pts for dance off
Total Score = 24
Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova
Judges Comments: Bruno said it was not a great Waltz and that Michael’s posture was not good. Carrie Ann said that the Waltz was charming. Len again disagreed with the judges and thought there was a charm about it and the couple had the best footwork of anyone. He loved it.
Score: 20/30 + 2 pts for the dance off.
Total Score = 22
Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough
Judges Comments: Bruno said it was like watching a butterfly and he loved it. Carrie Ann said there was hesitation and like Joanna was doubting herself. Len said they had great posture and it was the best waltz he has seen this evening (didn’t he say that to Michael??)
Score: 26/30 + 10 points for the dance off
Total Score = 36
The Jitterbug was danced by:
Mark Dacascos and Lacey
Judges Comments: Rave reviews from all of the judges.
Score: 26/30 + 6 points for dance off
Total Score = 32
Mya and Dmitri
Judges Comments: Len said sometimes less is more but not in the jitterbug and it was full of energy. Bruno said it was spectacular and Carrie Ann said she loved it and the tricks were fantastic.
Score: 26/30 + 9 points for dance off
Total = 35
Kelly Osbourne and Louis
Judges Comments: Len said the dance was a bit flat footed and it lacked the freedom that the jitterbug should have. Bruno said it was cute and nice but the performance needs to be ignited. Kelly needs to throw away her fear and allow herself to perform. Carrie Ann said Kelly’s sense of fun was back.
Score: 20/30 + 5 points for dance off
Total Score = 25
Louie had Kelly take a leap of faith and had her on a trapeze – much to Kelly’s chagrin. Kelly has a fear of heights so she did not enjoy the trapezee and told Louie what he could do (lol).
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson
Judges Comments: Len said it was really entertaining. Bruno said the timing was lost and Carrie Ann said there was a bit of a stumble.
Score: 24/30 + 7 points for dance off
Total Score = 31
Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower
Judges Comments: Len said Louie’s enthusiasm was great. Bruno said the precision and timing of the dance was off. Carrie Ann loved their dance.
Score: 21/30 + 3 points for dance off
Total Score = 24
The dance off was a four minute Mambo dance marathon. All 9 couples competed at the same time with the couples being eliminated by the judges. You said the exact same thing for Melissa and Mark. Was that correct?
