DWTS, Season 9, Week 7 Results Show – 11/3/09

Tonight’s episode of Dancing With the Stars was the results show. The show kicked off with Team Tango’s routine from last night. Tango had a huge advantage in that their team had zero weak links. You could argue that Kelly isn’t the best in the world, but she’s certainly better than Irving and Mark. Especially combined. Plus she has the votes to hold on, unlike Aaron, who continues to perform well but can’t seem to win over the public.
Post game reaction from last night:
Irving: People have done better, but this is our best and we’re happy.
Donny: I’m just glad we got through that. The room is spinning. You are Kym, right? [Donny seems to have caught the flu that sidelines the professionals, but you can't really sideline Donny from Team Donny]
Mark: After three partners…that’s ok.
Mya: Better than last week!
Aaron: Let’s just stop and appreciate the moment! Two tens!
Kelly–I’m on top of the world!
Joanna–I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it!
(For the rest of the recap and to watch the full episode keep reading)
They went through all of the dancers and each couple said something to the extent of “Anyone could leave tonight! EVEN ME!” Joanna and Mya were the first to express nerves about the elimination. I feel like of all the couples, they have the least to worry about. Judges love them, America loves them, they’re fine.
First couple safe: Kelly and Louis!
First in the bottom three: Mark and Lacey (doesn’t seem fair to Lacey, but all the same, I think Mark deserved it here)
Colbie Callait performed “Fallin’ For You” as Edyta and Alec danced. Do you ever wonder if the professional dancers enjoy Tuesdays more, given that they can actually dance the way they were trained? I mean, dancing with Ashley Hamilton can’t really be that much fun for someone as clearly talented as these dancers, can it?.
Kelly promised not to cry anymore as Louis said he’s going to be harder on her in the future. I wish I could have seen what they had planned for the dance off based on her hot pink tulle dress…
Mark mentioned that he was prepared for the dance-off. (I guess he had to be, because even his best case scenario put him in it.)
Next couple safe: Donny and Kym. They wore the watermelon pink and green sequined suit they rocked last Tuesday, despite the fact that it was pretty clear that they wouldn’t have to do the dance-off. Ever. I mean, it’s Donny. Please.
Next couple in the bottom: Irving and Anna.
Ballas and Hough performed a song from their new album. It’s clear they wrote it for the express purpose of being able to do it accompanied by dance moves no singer should be able to do. An impressive show, but I won’t be buying the album.
They did this every sports movie ever/Fight Club mashup with “the rules of the game:”
1. Do not talk about the trophy
2. Do not talk about the trophy
3. Trust your partner
4. No risk, no reward
5. Leave it all on the floor
6. Winning isnt everything, its the only thing
Mya and Dmitry were declared safe. Joanna and Derek were also safe. So Aaron, the top individual scorer, was left in the bottom three. Justice? (Full disclosure: I’m an Aaron girl. I don’t understand why he can’t get the votes when he dances as well as he does. At least in a dance-off he has the opportunity for the judges, who love him, to decide.)
Rod Stewart performed ‘It’s the Same Old Song’.
Irving was sent off. I think that’s fair.
Michael: I had a great time.
Anna: Thanks to Michael for being such a great partner and keeping going!
Samantha: Aaron, you had the highest individual score. Are you surprised? Are you ready?
Aaron: I’m ready. No hard feelings, Mark!
Mark commented that “with Lacey by my side again, I’m hoping we can win this thing.” They performed the Cha Cha, and once again, Mark found himself shirtless and doing cartwheels.
Len: Back at your best, back in your comfort zone, top notch.
Bruno: You can turn more tricks than Heidi Fleiss.
Carrie Ann: I’m so glad you are back. Lacey, welcome back. The flow from the tricks back into the dance was effortless.
The video showed Aaron and Karina showing up at the studio at 10pm after last night’s show, practicing in PJs. Aaron said, “I think we have an advantage in a dance-off because the judges pick the winner, not the viewers at home.” (He’s totally right. Can someone please explain his lack of votes to me? Frustrating.) They did another jive. Aaron has incredibly sharp feet for someone who claimed that he was having a difficult time with keeping his speed up.
Bruno: I can’t believe you’re in this situation after last night. And this was AS GOOD.
Carrie Ann: Disagree. This is better. Jive is suited for you.
Len: Aaron, you’re the comeback kid. Three weeks ago I gave you a 6, and last night I gave you my first 10.
Judge Reaction to the dance-off in general:
Carrie Ann: Both of you are incredible.
Len: They could not have done any more. Well done. I loved it.
Bruno: You came back with determination.
Len: Unanimous decision, we would like to save Aaron & Karina.
Mark and Lacey have been eliminated.
Samantha: What will you take away from this experience?
Mark: This is one of the greatest experiences of my life. The bond with the dancers–my dancer–the other celebs, this is special.
Lacey: Great job last night, Mark. I’m glad we got to dance together one last time.
So, reactions? Are you as frustrated as I am with Aaron’s lack of ability to garner votes? And it’s time to predict the top 3. Based on the past few shows, I have to guess that Aaron will go home next, then probably Kelly, and that leaves Donny, Mya, and Joanna. Donny takes it all. Thoughts?

i completely understand the lack of votes for aaron. he’s
absolutely arrogant and audiences don’t relate well with
his cocky attitude. though he dances well, so about him
is so fake that it turns me off to ever vote for him. he will
be gone next round, no question…

In Russia we love Aarons personality. It is called mudak or govniuk which means strong and potent. When I see his beautiful moves I draw breath and say ‘zaebal, poshol na khui’ which means I am proud of you, friend.
