Have U Heard??

Tonight’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy is the last episode until January.  Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s are all rolled into one episode.

The Chief takes Meredith under his wing and becomes her mentor.

Christina and Owen are fooling around when Christina gets beeped by Teddi.   Christina and Teddi have to remove the heart of a patient with nothing to replace it but machines. The man who brought her in is in a bit of a quandry since it’s only their 4thdate, the patient, Kelse,  has no family and now she’s laying in a hospital bed unconscious.   What is he going to do about Thanksgiving – he had plans??  He ends up staying and is still there on Christmas.  A month later and still no heart and part of her bowel has died from her poor circulation.  The patient won’t survive surgery with anesthesia so they perform the surgery without anesthesia and sing Christmas carols throughout the surgery.  Kelsey gets a heart on New Years Eve and on New Year’s day the boy who went on four dates with her proposes and she says yes.

Owen and Teddie are having a hard time keeping away from each other.  Teddie confesses to Owen that she has loved him every second of every day – Owen looks like he is going to confess his love for her too.  Instead he tells her that he loves Christina.  I don’t believe him – not with the way he has been looking at her.  It’s just a matter of time.

A boy, Nicholas, is brought into the ER with a nose bleed that won’t stop. Nicholas undergoes unsuccessful brain surgery. Derek, who is usually a miracle doctor can’t help him – yet.  Derek and Mark invent a new medical tool and at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve – Nicholas is saved!!  No surprises on this one.

Sloan Reilly introduced herself to Dr. Sloan – she thinks he is her father. Mark Sloan looks at his 18 year old daughter as a nail in his coffin. The DNA test proves that she is his daughter.  Mark brings Sloan home for Thanksgiving dinner and tells Lexi that Sloan is going to live with them for a while.   Lexi reacts by almost chopping her finger off.   By the time Christmas comes – Sloan is still living with Mark and Lexi and Mark is afraid to speak to her.  By the time New Year’s Eve arrives – Lexi is fed up and tells Mark to tell his daughter to find a new home or no more sex.   Sloan tells Mark that she is pregnant and has no where to go because her mother kicked her out.

Mark admits to Derek that he knew that Sloan’s mother was pregnant.  He gave her money for an abortion, left town and never heard from her again.

Meredith, Christina and Alex share thanksgiving dinner together in the hospital. Christina is thrilled because this means no obnoxious relatives, no stupid traditions and no going around the table and saying what you’re grateful for. The three of them decide to talk about what they’re not grateful for – Mercy West doctors.

Bailey’s parents don’t know that she is divorced – until her father shows up at her doorstep for a surprise visit on Christmas.  Bailey’s father tells her that he has always been a proud father until now – he’s ashamed that she gave up her family to become a doctor.  Dr. Bailey invites herself to Christmas dinner at Meredith and Derek’s with the other doctor’s from the hospital.  Bailey’s father reprimands her at the table for mentioning the “bowel” surgery but Bailey puts him in his place and tells him that she is happy and her son is happy and she was not willing to settle for an unhappy marriage with ultimatums.  By New Year’s – all is right with Bailey and her father. 

Meredith is still very angry with her father – and puts him in his place when he asks about the Chief drinking egg nog.  The Chief tells Meredith he is going to stop drinking.  This is not the case – she has to go to the bar when he drinks too much.
