Have U Heard??

Melrose Place is back.   It’s been 10 long years since the original Melrose Place was on television.

The new edition features hot young actors that have moved into the popular apartment building, with Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Katie Cassidy, Colin Egglesfield, and Shaun Sipos bringing in the sex appeal.   Don’t fret if you’re pining away for familiar faces, however Laura Leighton returned as Sidney while Thomas Calabro also appears as Sidney’s former brother-in-law and ex-boyfriend, Michael Mancini.

Plenty of plot twists and mysteries abound, starting from the first minute.  We have the bad girl, Ella.  The romance between Riley and Jonah.  The bad boy, David.  A good girl turned prostitute  (just for the money of course) - Lauren Gellar.  Murder – Sydney was found face down in the pool, and we can’t forget the alleged murderer, Auggie, who was shown burning bloody clothes.

Details about the show:

Sydney Andrews is back – despite a hit and run 11 years ago.  Surprisingly, Dr. Michael Mancini, Sydney’s ex-brother-in-law/old flame helped Sydney to fake her death.  Sydney then returns to the old apartment building as the landlord, resident cougar – with David, the resident bad-boy as her prey.

Sydney lures David to her apartment and tells him she has done something bad.  David ends up staying at the apartment, drinking too much and blacking out.  Waking up to a dead Sydney, David is hauled off to the police station only to have Ella, the resident bad girl, bail him out by being his alibi. 

To make things more interesting David is actually Michael Mancini’s estranged son.

Romance is in the air with a marriage proposal by Jonah, a videographer/film maker  to Reilly, a teacher.  Reilly does not answer Jonah with an immediate yes but needs to think on it.  It’s only been five years so what’s another day.  

Through a series of flashbacks we get to see who could possibly be the killer. 

The first flashback was of Sydney threatening to ruin Ella (Katie Cassidy) for spilling the secret to David that she used to sleep with his father who happens to be Michael Mancini.  Ella’s motive: Sydney gave her until the end of the month to find a new apartment.

Michael Mancini has a flashback showing that Sydney came to visit him at work in the hospital and wanted Michael back.  Michael Mancini claimed to be happily married.  Sydney wanted to know why he contacted her after 11 years and then slept with her if he was so happy.  Michael’s motive for killing Sydney:  She threatened to tell his wife that Michael and her were having an affair.   

David is concerned with Sydney’s death since he blacked out from drinking and has no idea what happened with Sydney. 

Lauren Gellar receives a call from her father who tells her that he lost his job and he could not longer pay for her med school. She ends up prostituting herself to a patient’s son for $5,000.

And finally we have a girl on girl kissing scene with Ella and a woman she met in a bar.  Not sure where the story line is going with that one.  We will have to tune into the next episode to see.

The jury is still out on this end.  I do miss the night time ”soap opera” – but I didn’t get the feeling when the show ended that I could not wait for next week to see the next episode.
