Private Practice ReCap 10/22/09, Pushing the Limits

Private Practice1

In this week’s Private Practice’s ‘Pushing the Limits’, Addison, Sam and Cooper treat the sick child of a homeless teen mother they met while volunteering.  Violet has trouble relating to her baby when her feelings of her attack resurface during a counseling session of a rape victim who is now pregnant and Cooper’s financial woes catch up with him when he’s asked to help buy out Naomi’s share of the practice.

Violet refuses to look at her son – this is heartbreaking to watch.  There is no connection at all.  Violet sees a reminder of what happened when she was attacked everytime she looks at her son, Lucas.   This comes out during a session with a client who was raped.  The client ends up pregnant and wants to keep the child while her husband wants her to abort it.  After Violet tells her that everytime she looks at the child she is going to be reminded of how the child was conceived,  the patient decides to abort the baby.

Addison, Sam and Cooper treat  the sick child of a homeless teen mother they met while volunteering.  Sam makes his return into surgery by operating on the homeless teen mother’s son who needs open heart surgery.  Sam almost loses the patient but he pulls through.  Addison finds the teen’s mother.  It turns out that she insisted she abort or put the baby up for adoption when she found out her daughter was pregnant.

Cooper is stressed when he is asked to help buy out Naomi’s share of the practice.  All of the partner’s take their checkbook out immediately while Cooper doesn’t have the $50,000 he needs.  Coop goes to Charlotte and tells her he is broke.  Coop confesses he doesn’t plan for next week or next month and he behaves more like a 12 year old kid than a doctor.  Charlotte gives Addison a $50,000 check for a piece of the partnership and a blank check so she could buy her way into the practice.

Pete tells Violet that he is quitting the practice to go work upstairs with Naomi.  He is doing it so that he can stop pushing Lucas in Violet’s face.

Next week Violet has to testify against her attacker – one of the most emotional episodes this season.

What did you think of this week’s episode??

I liked this episode, although there wasn’t enough Pete in it. He is my favorite character. Amy Brenneman was brilliant.
