Private Practice ReCap Episode 2, 10/08/09

After last week’s unbelievable season premiere we find Violet in bad shape. Who can blame her. She was attacked in her own home and now hides in the closet every time the doorbell rings. She is a wreck, refuses to leave her house and can’t bond with her new son.
Addison has an awkward run in with Naomi in the elevator. Naomi is working at her new job and she feels bad that she is not with her friends.
Cooper is called to the emergency room for an 11 year old girl and her mother who are badly beaten, and their father/husband who was stabbed. The mother claims that she stabbed her husband. Addison confronts the mother, Michelle, about the fact that her husband, Darren, allegedly beat both her and her daughter, Tammy. Michelle is arrested for the stabbing.
Darren is in a coma from a head trauma. Cooper confronts Tammy about the stabbing. Tammy confesses that the stabbing was not an accident and she actually stabbed her father. Tammy has anger issues and rages. Michelle blames herself because she was on drugs when she was pregnant with Tammy. Tammy is the cause of all of the bruises.
It turns out that Tammy’s rages are a result of a rare tumor on her ovary. It releases an excess of adrenaline causing the rages.
All of the doctors are having a hard time dealing with what happened to Violet. Cooper can’t bring himself to visit Violet. Addison and Naomi go to visit Violet who hides in the closet when they arrive. Sheldon visits Violet but tries to provide counseling which Violet rejects. Sheldon tells Pete that Violet will not leave her house as long as she knows that Pete will always come home. Pete tells Violet that he is going back to his house. He tells her that he is doing this so that Violet will help herself.
Charlotte went to Violet’s house to pick up Cooper’s clothes and ends up making Violet a martini. Something tells me that is a bad idea. Charlotte asks Violet what is wrong with her – besides the fact that she was attacked and had her baby removed from her. Violet confesses that the problem is the baby. She feels nothing for him and doesn’t want to deal with him. Charlotte tells Violet that Cooper blames himself for not saving her.
Cooper finally visits Violet. Violet tells Cooper that he is not responsible for what happened to her. Cooper apologizes to Violet for not coming sooner.
Addison feels guilty about feeling sad that her heart is broken. Sam and Addison commiserate that Naomi is not “their” Naomi anymore. Naomi sees Addison in the elevator and tells her that she doesn’t want to just discuss shoes and she misses her – Addison responds by saying “nice shoes”.
The episode ends with Violet leaving the house and going to Pete’s to give him the baby. She doesn’t think she can take care of him and tells Pete, “This is me being a good mom”.
On a scale of 1 – 10 I give this episode an 8. It was good but the only thing that left me wanting more were the scenes from next week with Dr. Bailey from Grey’s Anatomy visiting. What about you??
