Have U Heard??

My family and I just returned from a fantastic weekend at Rocking Horse Ranch.  This all-inclusive dude ranch is nestled on a picturesque 500 acres in Highland, New York. Rocking Horse Ranch is a full scale year round resort which is an ideal family getaway. 

From the start our daughters, 3 and 8, were elated to find bunk beds in the newly decorated guestrooms.  Although with the endless activities and events awaiting us, we headed out to explore the ranch.  We switched into weekend warrior mode and preceded to try every activity the ranch had to offer.  We went rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hay-riding, archery, tennis, mini-golf, paddle-boating and did I mention horseback riding.  A favorite place for my girls was the Fun Barn with it’s bouncy house, two-story ball pit, volleyball and ping-pong.   We did our best but we will have to go back to the ranch, because we only touched on the multitude of activities they offer.

During our stay we enjoyed cool crisp autumn weather, which was prefect for horseback riding through the woods where the leaves were just beginning to change.  The wranglers were patient and friendly, and the horses are well cared for.  Our 3-year-old was happy to visit the zebras, cows and camel, and fed the ponies, but was not yet ready to go for a ride. For more about the ranch and 30+ pictures keep reading.

Another family favorite was the heated indoor pool.  The ranch is in the process of extending the indoor pool, which includes adding a giant 230- foot water slide, it will be ready in early October. 

With all of the activities and excitement we worked up a hearty appetite.   The adults had choices from healthy to indulgent, and the kid friendly meals were actually eaten before the girls hit the dessert and ice cream bar.

 We found the staff to be helpful, courteous and accommodating.  Every staff member greeted us and made sure our experience was a memorable one.

The award winning Rocking Horse Ranch also offers superb child care, which we didn’t take advantage of because we were just having such a great time with the kids. 

The staff also organized fun activities such as teen survivor, scavenger hunts, Frisbee golf and cocktail parties to name a few.  The evening entertainment was enjoyed by the whole family before the girls passed out from exhaustion.

We are looking forward to going back in the winter to enjoy the new indoor water park, after skiing and tubing at the ranch.  The summer activities include water skiing and banana boat rides on the lake.
