Survivor:Samoa Recap 11/5/09 ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’

Foa Foa was praying for a merge tonight, the 4 remaining tribe members agreed their best move wass unity if the merge happened.  Their prayers are answered.  The two tribes met on the beach and found a treasure chest containing new buffs with an invite to a feast at their new home, the old Galu camp.

Russell, in his typical fashion, starts working the crowd to align with the Galu tribe and secure his safety.  The old Galu tribe is a bit cocky but Russell feels confident that he can get the votes to eliminate Laura.  Russell has targeted Laura because she put him in his place which really pissed him off.

The new merged Survivor tribe is now named Aiga, Samoa slang for extended family.  Aiga arrives for the first individual challenge of the season.  The tribe will compete in a T-ball challenge, the women against the women and the men against the men.  One woman and one man would win immunity.  My favorite exchange of the night was when Dave was up at bat.

Jeff:  Dave, is baseball your sport?

Dave:  No, making love is my sport.

Jeff:  Play much?

Dave:  Not as often as I like.

John and Laura won immunity which screwed up Russell’s plan of voting off Laura.

Russell exposed his idol (immunity idol that is) to many of the players so they wanted to flush it out.  In an effort to do so Erik told the other 3 Foa Foa tribe members to vote off Monica when in reality they planned on voting off Jaison.  However, the old Foa Foa tribe found Erik to be very condescending and planned to vote Eric off.

At tribal council, Erik, feeling very smug and confident insulted Jaison and Russell and basically told them they were dead men.  Well, Jaison and Russell had the last laugh.  Erik was voted off leaving the game a little humbler and with an immunity idol in is pocket.  Russell did play his immunity idol, although he didn’t need to.  Which puts him in a very vulnerable position for next week.

Erik’s parting words:

He doesn’t regret going home with the idol since this blindside was invisible to him. He says that he played the game with his whole heart.

Next week on Survivor Samoa:

The old Galu declares open season on Russell. He is out of idols, low on friends, and possibly out of luck.
