Devin Velez performed the song, “Temporary Home ” by Carrie Underwood on the first night of performances for American Idol’s Top 10 finalists.
Judges’ Comments: Keith tells Devin that it “wasn’t his best” performance and that it may have just boiled down to “poor song choice.” Nicki, meanwhile, says that she disagrees with “every single thing” that Keith said, and feels the complete opposite. She tells Devin that he loved the song choice and his performance, and she wouldn’t have changed a thing. Randy directs his critiques to everyone, saying that they’re 3 people in and it’s been “way too safe” and that people need to “go for broke.” Mimi jumps in saying that she thinks the “problem” is that Devin “can do way too much” and the expectations they have for him are just too high. Uhm – he’s one of the top 10 contestants on American Idol … the expectations are supposed to be high!

This is some exciting news for Carrie Underwood and her fans!

NBC has scored the country singer for the role as Maria von Trapp in a remake of the classic musical The Sound of Music. This remake will air as a three-hour special broadcast event based on the original Broadway musical.

The telecast is set to air in 2013 and will be produced by Craig Zadanand Neil Meron, the men behind NBC’s Smash.

The network’s chairman told US Weekly:

“Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn’t be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp. She was an iconic woman who will now be  played by an iconic artist.”

The Sound of Music documents the true story of an aspiring nun who falls in love with widower Captain von Trapp after she is tasked with caring for his seven children. It first appeared on Broadway in 1959, which the movie version coming out in 1965, which starred Julie Andrews.

Music Legend Stevie Wonder performed a moving tribute to Dick Clark on The 40th Anniversary  of the “American Music Awards” on Sunday, broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A..  The 11-time AMA winner closed out the 2012 AMAs honoring the iconic Dick Clark.

He was introduced by Ryan Seacrest, who prior the ceremony said,

“I am honored to be a part of the AMAs’ tribute to Dick Clark. He was a mentor, friend and a wonderful advocate for popular music, helping make it one of the cornerstones of American culture. We miss him dearly”.

Dick Clark, who passed away earlier this year, created the “American Music Awards” in 1973 to give the music-loving public an opportunity to recognize their favorite artists and records of the year. Clark had long been an ambassador for rock ‘n’ roll, helping to make this new, youth-oriented music acceptable to adults in the ’50s, with his clean-cut looks and high standards for teen-aged behavior on his daily “American Bandstand” show. After its inception, he grew the “American Music Awards” through decades of diverse music until it became one of the industry’s biggest events.

Other performers that made it a night to remember include; Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, Carrie Underwood, Ke$ha, Linkin Park, Nicki Minaj, No Doubt, Pink, Pitbull, Psy, Taylor Swift, Usher, The Wanted and Swizz Beatz featuring Chris Brown and Ludacris.

The 2012 Country Music Awards ceremony was held at the Bridgestone Arena on Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn. Country stars Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the CMAs again this year and we have the full list of nominees and winners below!!

The biggest winner of the evening was Blake Shelton, who walked away with Male Vocalist of the Year and the coveted Entertainer of the Year award.

The Country Music Association unveiled its nominees for the 46th annual CMA Awards in Times Square this morning with the help of two of the show’s nominees – Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.

In the aftermath of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez leaving American Idol, rumors have been flying as to who will replace their seats at the judges table. We have heard everything from Mariah Carey to Aretha Franklin and even Charlie Sheen! Another rumor was former Idol contestant Adam Lambert! Well now another former Idol contestant is speaking out on who she thinks would make a great judge and while she isn’t talking about herself, she is volunteering another Idol alum.

Kelly Clarkson says she does not want to be a judge on the next season of American Idol, but she is more than happy to volunteer someone else. Clarkson told US Weekly that mentoring is more of her style, rather than judging, as we all got to see on her stint on Duets. She does think however that 2005 Idol winner and extremely successful country singer Carrie Underwood should do it!

Clarkson said:

“She would! Didn’t she major in journalism or something? And she can have that face … that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good.”

I wouldn’t mind seeing Underwood at that judges table! Who do you think should be the next Idol judge???

Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about a lot of things, including future family plans and the number of kids they want to have.

In a joint interview on Oprah’s Next Chapter, Underwood said that while Fisher grew up with “three siblings, I think two is a good number to have. We’ll see. We’ll cross that bridge. I don’t want too many.”

Fisher insisted that he’d be happy with “two or three” kids, but his country singer wife joked saying that he says “I want seven!”

The couple has no immediate plans to start a family at this time, but Underwood seems pretty confident that her husband will “be the best dad ever, and that makes the whole parent situation seem much better.”

When these two decide to start a family they will definitely have adorable babies!
