The Jay Leno Show Primetime Debut

Jay Leno

The Jay Leno Show had its primetime debut Monday night finally, after hearing NBC telling us all summer, it was “comedy at 10,” not simply a second Tonight Show.  It seems like Jay wasn’t taking any chances with his new show, to me it seemed just like the old show.

I was hoping for something fresh and new, but instead it was the same format and formula, just a little earlier in the evening.

His first guest was funny man Jerry Seinfeld, dressed in a tuxedo, who will be appearing on Curb Your Enthusiasm, this season with the cast from Seinfeld.  Jerry joked with Jay about being the biggest name he could get, “Is your staff aware that I have not been on television for 11 years?” and kidding that he was there to announce his new talk show. Then Oprah Winfrey appeared via teleprompter to chat with Jerry and ignore Jay.

The host then had an unplanned interview with Kanye West to discuss his appalling behavior from the VMA’s (you can read about that interview in an earlier post). My most unfavorite person at the moment, then joined Rihanna and Jay-Z for a musical performance of “Run This Town”.

Any opinions on the show?
