Ted Lasso season three will return March 15 as a teaser is shared

Season three of Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudeikis is on its way.

On Tuesday, Apple TV+ announced the next season of the beloved series filmed in England will return to the network on March 15.

There was also a brief teaser shared that set the tone for the new chapter of Coach Lasso, played by Sudeikis – who was seen earlier this month with his ex Olivia Wilde – and the talented AFC Richmond players.

The stars of the show are seen returning to their locker room as the song I Still Believe by Frank Turner plays.

They all hold up yellow Believe signs and tape them over their lockers much to the joy of Coach Lasso.

Most of the stars of the hit series are seen.

Among the characters shown are Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster), Keeley Jones (Juno Temple), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh).

Each one holds up a sign that says Believe, which is what Jason’s coach Lasso was known for sharing in season one and two to inspire his soccer players.

It is made clear that Lasso has fired up his AFC Richmond players and they are thinking Lasso-like after rebelling against him in the past.

Then Lasso and Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) are seen entering the room.

After seeing the Believe signs, Lasso tells Beard: ‘Well, if seeing is believing, I believe we’ve been seen.’

The villain for season three will be former AFC Richmond crew member Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed) who has joined another team, West Ham United.

The show kicked off in August 2020 with season two landing in 2021.

It is not known if season three will be the last season of Ted Lasso.

In mid January a first look image of Lasso from season three was shared.

He was seen squaring off with his former protégé Shelley.

Lasso is a Division II national champion-winning American football coach who is surprisingly hired to coach the AFC Richmond soccer team despite having absolutely no experience coaching soccer.

While he eventually wins over his team, he learns that he was hired by AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton (Waddingham) – who won the team from her ex Rupert (Anthony Head) in their nasty divorce proceedings – to tank the team as revenge for Rupert leaving her.

As for Nate, he begins the series as AFC Richmond’s ‘kit man,’ though he ultimately becomes Ted’s right-hand man and helps him learn the game.

At the end of the first season, he’s promoted from kit man to assistant coach, and his ‘false nine’ strategy helped the team get promoted back to the Premier League at the end of Season 2, after getting relegated at the end of Season 1.

But throughout the second season, Nate developed a severe animosity towards Lasso, which came to a head in the Season 2 finale.

It was revealed that Rupert had recently acquired the Premier League team West Ham United… with Nate leading the way as the team’s new head coach.

The series is based on a series of commercials NBC ran to promote their coverage of the Premiere League, with Sudeikis playing Ted as the new coach of the Totenham Hotspurs.

Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt (who plays Coach Beard on the show), Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) and Joe Kelly (Detroiters) created the series and pitched it to Apple TV Plus with a three-season arc.

‘This story is going to be over [in season three], regardless, even if the show finds another story to tell and goes on,’ Lawrence said after Season 2 ended.

Hunt added in an August 2022 interview, ‘We are writing an ending for this three-chunk portion that we’ve always seen, but it’s not like Thanos is in it and half of us die.’

‘Most of us, anyway, will probably still be alive, so I don’t think leaving an out is anything to worry about. It’s just a matter of whether or not we pick this up in some other way, and when,’ he added.

The cast and writers all received healthy pay bumps heading into the third season, which did include options for future seasons, though it’s unclear yet if any future seasons will happen.
