Mayim Bialik Slams United Flight Attendant Who Shut Gate ‘in My Face’

Mayim Bialik had an unpleasant experience with United Airlines that left her on the verge of tears.

“To the @UnitedAirlines flight attendant who shut the boarding gate in my face. I made my connecting flight in Houston,” the Big Bang Theory star, 43, tweeted on Sunday, February 10. “It was a tight squeeze but You said there were plenty of open seats. when you saw my carry on suitcase you said there was no room and shut the door in my face.”

In a pair of follow-up tweets, Bialik wondered why her “little suitcase” could not fit on the plane. She noted that the first-class seat she had booked “could have held” the carry-on and she “would have gladly sat in all of the open seats anywhere on that plane.”

“There were five other people from my flight standing there with me who [the flight attendant] let on the plane,” she added. “Maybe she just doesn’t like The Big Bang Theory. They all had carry-on luggage too.”

The actress further explained what happened on her Instagram page, claiming that the crew member shut the door “without even saying she was sorry.”

“With 7 min left she could have made a small effort to try harder since she said there were ‘plenty of seats open,’” she wrote. “Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she hates women who look like they’re about to cry.”

Bialik told her 3.1 million Instagram followers that she broke her suitcase “from running so hard and aggressively” in the airport, which also made her asthma “super angry.” She was also worried that people would think she was “a prima donna” for shouting about her first-class seat.

“I didn’t mean I deserve it more, I meant can my suitcase sit in my first class seat and I’ll sit anywhere else?” she wrote. “Not a good day for me and @united.”

In response, a spokesperson for United Airlines tells Us Weekly, “We were able to get Ms. Bialik on the next flight to Los Angeles and we are reviewing what happened with our team in Houston.”
