Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend Joe Alwyn Almost Secured A Role In Love Actually

Just when we thought every part of Love Actually had been analysed about a thousand times by multiple different people, we’ve finally learnt something new about everyone’s favourite Christmas film.

It turns out that the world was almost introduced to Joe Alwyn (AKA Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) many moons ago, after the actor auditioned for the part of Liam Neeson’s onscreen son in the 2003 movie.

During an interview with GQ, the 27-year-old said that he got pretty far into the process before producers decided to go with someone else: “I remember reading some of the scenes with Hugh Grant [who played the Prime Minister] and Richard Curtis [who wrote and directed Love Actually]”.

The role eventually went to Thomas Brodie-Sangster who went on to star in Game Of Thrones and the Maze Runner film series.

In the same interview, Joe spilled a few details about his relationship with Taylor and said that neither of them realised their matching cactus photos would cause such a social-media storm.

“No, no [it wasn’t on purpose]! It wasn’t purposeful at all!” he said, before refusing to name his favourite track from the singer: “I’m just not even going to go into that side of the world.”

While Joe isn’t massively keen on talking about their relationship, that hasn’t stopped Taylor from sharing a plug to his latest film on her social-media page: “The Favourite is absolutely phenomenal, and it opens in NY and LA tomorrow— Swipe to see cities and dates! @thefavouritemovie @joe.alwyn @nicholashoult”
