Bethenny Frankel minced no words when sharing her opinions about the Kardashians and Jenners for their flagrant photoshop use.
The 51-year-old ex-Real Housewives of New York star was stopped in New York City by a reporter from TMZ and asked her thoughts on the phenomenon.
‘It’s not fair to women that are just trying to get by. It’s irresponsible, it’s reckless, it’s not inspirational, it’s not aspirational,’ said the Bravo star.
This comes days after Kim was raked over the coals for smoothing out her neck in a swimming pool photo.
Fed up: Bethenny Frankel minced no words on Friday morning as she spoke candidly about her feelings toward the Kardashians and their flagrant photoshop use
Bethenny, who is the mom to 12-year-old daughter Brynn Hoppy, added, ‘It’s destructive. It creates eating disorders, insecurity, depression. It’s a serious thing.’
The media personality was in the Big Apple to stop by CBS for an interview with Gayle King about beauty.
Wearing a classic pink blazer and a multicolor patterned skirt, the outspoken mogul was firm in her stance against the misleading images that permeate social media.
She continued in her rant, ‘Moms feel insecure. … They don’t have time to do all this [editing], nor they even know how to [with] the technology.’
Comparison: Days ago, the former Bravo TV star appeared on Instagram to demonstrate just how ‘deceptive’ editing can be, posting an altered image of herself in a bikini with the original photo right after it
‘NOT what I look like’: In the first image, Bethenny displayed a slimmed down waist and enhanced cleavage as she posed on a beach
Bethenny insisted: ‘The more we see these images, the more we think they’re real. It becomes a false ideal.’
She advised, ‘People should just be happy with who they are—wear some makeup, if you want to get plastic surgery and be honest about it, that’s your business. But to outright about plastic surgery and filtering and photoshopping—the playing field becomes truly, absolutely not level.
‘When you’re already billionaires, you have access to so much more … and it makes people feel terrible about themselves.’
Just days prior, the former Bravo TV star appeared on Instagram to demonstrate just how ‘deceptive’ editing can be, posting an altered image of herself in a bikini.
In the caption the entrepreneur broke down just how damaging filters can be as she called them outright ‘inaccurate.’
Before and after: Kim in her original post (L) and in the version commercial photographer Caroline Ross posted after she ‘corrected’ it
‘Filtering is lying: it is deceptive. It makes women feel badly about themselves. It makes young girls insecure and obsessed with an unattainable perfection,’ she wrote. ‘It makes middle aged women and mothers feel insecure about themselves.’
Her thoughts continued as she added, ‘This creates a false ideal for men. It’s the opposite of inspirational. It’s destructive. It’s irresponsible. It’s insecure and it’s inaccurate. There is a line between making an effort to look pretty and an outright falsehood.’
Kim also came under scrutiny for her extensive editing by commercial photographer Caroline Ross, who took to TikTok to air her concerns.
The ladies always look so perfect: From left, Kendall, Kim and Kylie
To reveal the apparent edit job, Ross used a tool from photoshop and ‘corrected’ the image to show how Kim’s neck naturally looked before it was allegedly slimmed down.
‘Kim K is notorious for Photoshopping out her traps,’ Caroline, who goes by Caroline In The City on TikTok, alleged. ‘Why? I don’t know, maybe it makes her neck look smaller. But this area right here has been Photoshopped out.
Getting super technical, the professional noted, ‘When we zoom in, we can see that the water pattern behind her here has been warped. Using the liquify tool Photoshop, I’m going to now show you what it would look like without the Photoshopping applied to it.’
As you can see, the water reflection in the background starts to look a lot more natural as well, we don’t have that warped effect.’
‘We also have a behind the scenes video from the shoot to compare as well,’ she said before showing a screenshot from the clip.
Nearly one month ago Bethenny also used some choice words to describe her displeasure with Kardashian’s skincare line SKN by Kim.
While Bethenny ultimately was happy with the ‘quality’ skincare products, she slammed the packaging as ‘impractical at best,’ compared it to a Rubik’s Cube, and said that they were ‘likely somewhat overpriced.’
‘The packaging. This is an eye cream. It is bulbous. I don’t understand it, because it doesn’t stack… it doesn’t even have a flat bottom, so it’s effectively like an egg. I guess it has a tiny little flat bottom but that’s impractical at best,’ she explained.
She also had a bone to pick with the exfoliator, a scrub which came in a bulky container Bethenny imagined would be difficult to travel with.
‘It’s just not practical, and I’m a very practical and organized person. This shocks me because don’t the Kardashians organize their jelly beans by color?’ she ridiculed.
Another opinion: Bethenny bashed Meghan Markle, accusing her of acting like an ex-Real Housewives star who has left the show ‘but can’t stop talking about it’
Frankel also recently unleashed a tirade against Meghan Markle, accusing her of being ‘sanctimonious’ and ‘self-important’ while insisting that she needs to stop publicly blasting the royal family and ‘let it go.’
She held nothing back as she spoke out about her thoughts on Meghan’s recent bombshell interview with The Cut and her newly-released Spotify podcast during her own iHeart podcast Just B.
Despite conceding that she had faced flack in the past for airing her opinions about Meghan, 41, Bethenny said she felt as though she couldn’t ignore the controversies surrounding the Duchess of Sussex because it’s something that everyone is talking about and ‘has an opinion about.’
Describing the mother-of-two as a ‘polarizing’ person, Bethenny went on to address why the tides of public opinion seem to have very much turned against Meghan in recent months.
‘The bottom line is I don’t think people like Meghan Markle because I think she talks down to other people, I think she’s sanctimonious,’ the former Bravo star stated.
‘I think there’s this subtext of elevation. She’s up there, we’re down here.’
The 51-year-old branded the Duchess of Sussex, 41, ‘sanctimonious’ and ‘self-important’ while addressing Meghan’s newly-released podcast and recent interview with The Cut
Bethenny went on to accuse Meghan of having a high-and-mighty opinion of herself, suggesting that the former Suits star believes she ‘just has institutional knowledge on life and has experienced more than any of us.’
Comparing her to the women who appeared alongside her in the Real Housewives franchise, Bethenny continued: ‘She’s very self-important. She’s very much like a Housewife in that she can’t stop talking about the very thing that she wants to be irrelevant.
‘If she were on the show, the producers would say, “Stop talking about security and the state of Frogmore Cottage. It’s not relatable. Most people don’t have a security detail so while that may be a real concern for you, it’s not something that is going to play to this audience.”‘
The ex-Housewives star also accused Meghan of trying to ‘mimic’ Princess Diana in the way that she positions herself publicly, saying: ‘I think there’s a non-relatable factor in the way that we’re being spoken to.
‘In that poised, orchestrated elegance, in that mimicking of Diana, in that Caroline Kennedy-style intentional, very natural, very slow speech. Being aghast at the word “diva”. Who are you relating to?’
Her two cents: Bethenny accused Meghan of ‘creating more drama’ for Prince Harry, 37, by repeatedly bashing his family in interviews and on her podcast, Archetypes
