Rosie ODonnell argues with daughter Vivienne on TikTok after she said upbringing wasnt normal

Rosie O’Donnell is responding to her daughter Vivienne after the teenager said on TikTok that her upbringing with the star wasn’t ‘normal.’

‘Vivi, what do you mean I didn’t do anything normal?’ the 60-year-old comedian retorted in her own TikTok video on Thursday, adding: ‘I did normal things. I’m normal. I’m totally normal.’

Vivienne, 19, is the youngest of Rosie’s four children that she adopted with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter with whom she split with in 2007. They also share sons Parker, 27, and Blake, 22, and a daughter Chelsea, 24.

O’Donnell adopted her fifth child, daughter Dakota, nine, with former partner Michelle Rounds in 2013. Rounds died of an apparent suicide at the age of 46 in 2017.

In their back-and-forth on TikTok, O’Donnell took issue with the teenager’s claim that she ‘never’ followed protocols as a parent, and joked in response: ‘Jeez, Viv. I’m gonna tell some secrets about you!’

Earlier on Thursday, Vivienne made a series of claims about what life was like being raised by O’Donnell, and while she said was ‘grateful’ to her – she stressed to viewers that it wasn’t a ‘normal’ upbringing.

Vivienne appeared to be mainly referencing the fact that she was surrounded by A-List stars growing up including Madonna and Oprah Winfrey.

‘No offense, Mom,’ Vivienne began. ‘She just didn’t really inform us (about) really anything.’

‘She has done so much for me, and I’m so incredibly, incredibly thankful for her, but one thing she’s not done is normal.’

‘At my birthday parties, this beautiful woman would always come, and I was like, “Yeah, there’s Mo,”‘ she added. ‘I never had any idea who the f*** she was. Then I find out it was Madonna all these years.’

She added that it was the ‘same thing with Oprah [Winfrey]’ as she name-dropped another of her mother’s famous friends.

O’Donnell and her daughter Vivienne have had a rocky relationship over the years.

The comedian was left visibly shocked in 2020, when Vivienne revealed in front of her mother that she had been drugged and assaulted.

The pair were filming a TikTok video when she made the revelations, with O’Donnell looking both surprised and dismayed.

O’Donnell – who recently went Instagram official with new girlfriend Aimee, 43, after five months –  became a grandmother this year when her eldest daughter Chelsea welcomed a child in February.

She and Chelsea have feuded publicly over the years, though they forgave each other in 2018.

Addressing the drama on The Talk at the time, O’Donnell said: ‘I think with my relationship with my daughter, Chelsea, it really has because we went through some really public troubled times.’

‘She’s doing better now and we’re both communicating with each other. When somebody does something unforgivable to you and you can forgive them and they can forgive you, there’s a kind of grace that descends upon the both of you, within that.’
