Olivia Wilde denies cheating on Jason Sudeikis with Harry Styles while gracing cover of Vanity Fair

Olivia Wilde did not hold back as she addressed rumors that cheated on former fiancé Jason Sudeikis with Harry Styles, before ending their seven-year engagement back in 2020 during a sit-down interview with Vanity Fair.

In response to the public’s speculation that she was unfaithful to her longtime partner, the 38-year-old director insisted that their ‘relationship was over long before’ meeting the pop star on the set of her drama-riddled movie Don’t Worry Darling.

‘The complete horses**t idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,’ she told the magazine while gracing the cover in a racy minidress, which showcased her toned legs, and a pair of chunky platform heels.

The mother-of-two continued: ‘Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight. Unfortunately, Jason and I had a very bumpy road, and we officially dissolved the relationship towards the beginning of the pandemic.’

‘We were raising two kids during lockdown, so we co-parented through that time. Once it became clear that cohabitating was no longer beneficial for the children, it became the responsible thing to not, because we could be better parents as friends who live in different houses,’ Wilde explained.

Despite an initial amicable split, her former partner raised eyebrows for serving the House actress custody papers on stage at the 2022 CinemaCon in front of 4,100 film industry executives back in April.

‘So many people were shocked on my behalf,’ she said. ‘Unfortunately, I wasn’t that shocked. There’s a reason that I didn’t stay in that relationship. Unfortunately, that was consistent with my experience of the relationship. So I was probably the least shocked.’

Still, she admitted the incident left her ‘deeply saddened by it—and disturbed by it in lots of ways.’

‘I know it took an extraordinary amount of energy [for the server] to get in that room. It took a tremendous amount of forethought. And I will tell you, there are so many other ways to do that. I am not someone who lives in hiding. If that experience hadn’t been public, I never would have spoken of it, because I never would want my kids to know that happened. Unfortunately, they will know that happened,’ she pointed out.

While Wilde believes Sudeikis wanted ‘to disrupt’ her appearance, an insider close to him told the publication he ‘had not known when or where the papers would be served and would never condone such a turn of events.’

She went on to note why she keeps their relationship out of the spotlight because ‘once you crack open the window, you can’t then be mad when mosquitoes come in.’

In addition to her complicated love life, her latest project, Don’t Worry Darling, has been the center of gossip, from her alleged on-set affair to ‘baseless rumors’ that she’s feuding with its leading lady Florence Pugh.

While speaking about the 26-year-old Black Widow star’s minimal promotion of their film, Independent Spirit Award winner defended the performer, who she described as ‘one of the most in-demand actresses in the universe.’

‘I gather that some people expect for her to be engaging more on social media. I didn’t hire her to post. I hired her to act. She fulfilled every single expectation I had of her. That’s all that matters to me,’ Wilde stated.

She continued: ‘Florence’s performance in this film is astounding. It’s just baffling to me that the media would rather focus on baseless rumors and gossip, thereby overshadowing her profound talent.’

‘She deserves more than that. As does the movie, and everyone who worked so hard on it,’ the filmmaker made clear.

Still, Wilde seems to remain a fierce optimist as she expresses that ‘the really f**ked-up, difficult parts of life are what make you a better person, a better mother, a better friend, a better artist.’

Amid all the drama, Wilde has not lost focus on her biggest priority—raising her children Otis, eight, and five-year-old Daisy.

‘There’s nothing that is more important to me,’ she said of parenting. ‘I love driving to school every morning. I love making pancakes. I love putting them to bed every night. They’re my best friends.’

She added: ‘We almost find more strength in protecting others than protecting ourselves. I think that I am able to withstand all of the nonsense because I’m protecting them.’
