As Tom Brady hits the field Sunday for his 23rd season of NFL play, many fans are wondering if his wife, Giselle Bundchen, will be in the stands cheering him on. 

The supermodel, 42, has been less than pleased about the 45-year-old quarterback returning to the field, according to a source quoted in US Weekly. 

‘Gisele was not happy when Tom un-retired from the NFL after such a short time,’ according to the insider. ‘There is tension between them.’

The source continued: ‘They’re working through things and trying to come out the other side.’ 

The seven-time Super Bowl winner was excused from pre-season training in August to handle some ‘personal things.’

‘It’s all personal, you know.’ the MVP replied when asked about his absence August 27. ‘Everyone’s got different situations that they’re dealing with.’

The father of three, shares Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine with Gisele. His oldest son, Jack, 15, is from his relationship with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynihan. 

Earlier this year, Brady surprised fans when he changed his mind about retiring from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

‘These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” the QB wrote in a social media post March 13. ‘That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.’

His spouse seemed supportive of the decision, responding with, ‘Here we go again! Let’s go lovvvey! Let’s go Bucs!’ 

In May, Bundchen explained why raising children with the professional athlete is not the ‘fairy tale’ most people imagine it would be.

During a candid interview with British Vogue, the mom-of-two explained that it takes ‘work to be really in sync with someone, especially after you have kids.’

‘His focus is on his career, mine is mostly on the kids,’ she explained. ‘And I’m very grateful that he lets me take the reins when it comes to our family. He trusts my decisions.’

The Brazilian beauty went on to explain how successful relationships ‘don’t just happen’ and recalled times when they didn’t always see eye to eye.

‘I remember, in the beginning, he wasn’t into the idea of home birth,’ she told the magazine. ‘He was like, ‘You’re not going to do that, because you’re going to die.’ 

Eventually after showing him multiple videos on home birthing, she says he got on board. 

‘I made it clear that this is my body and I’m going to decide how I give birth,’ the model stated.

In her memoir, Lessons: My Path To A Meaningful Life, the author noted that parenting alone as he trains up to 12 hours a day has hurt their marriage. 

Brady previously revealed Gisele’s feelings towards his lingering football career during a 2017 interview with SiriusXM, following his fifth Super Bowl win with his former team the New England Patriots. 

‘If it was up to my wife, she would have me retire today,’ he admitted at the time. ‘She told me that last night three times. And I said, “Too bad, babe, I’m having too much fun right now.”‘
