Tommy Dorfman announced Monday that she is engaged, though she shared few details about her new fiancée.

The 30-year-old 13 Reasons Why star — who previously presented as a gay man before coming out as a transgender woman — shared her news during an appearance on Rachel Bilson’s podcast Broad Ideas.

The actress revealed that her fiancée is a ‘cis woman,’ even though she had previously dated men.

Tommy stopped short of revealing the identity of her fiancée, though she did describe her as ‘just a gay girl.’

Back in April, she shared in a TikTok video documenting her fluid sexuality, in which she said that she ‘went from being a straight boy to a gay boy to a non-binary person to a trans straight woman — I thought — to I guess I am a trans lesbian.’

While speaking with Rachel, Tommy admitted that she ‘knew I was interested in women in a way that I hadn’t really been aware of since high school,’ via Just Jared.

‘I had this unresolved, unexplored thing. I was like, “This is the year that I’m gonna go on some dates with girls and feel that out again, and not feel ashamed about it.”‘

However, the Sharp Stick actress admitted she was afraid to be open about her attraction to women, as she had become a ‘safe’ figure to many of her women friends when she previously identified as a gay man.

‘Because they thought of me as a gay man, they were like, “Oh, like you’re the safest person in the world,”‘ she explained. ‘And then suddenly, I transition and I become a little bit more threatening, in my head.’

Striking up a relationship with her fiancée was a big step, as she was the first woman Tommy had been with in a ‘very long time,’ though she found the experience to be ‘very affirming.’

‘It’s safe. Also not safe, and like being in love is so scary,’ she continued. ‘So uncomfortable, so painful. All the universal feelings of being in love that are probably the same.’

Tommy didn’t clarify when she got married, but after previously keeping her left ring finger bare, she was seen in May in New York City at the GLAAD Media Awards wearing what appeared to be a gold ring with a tear drop–shaped diamond and an emerald next to it, along with a separate smaller gold band.

In June, she was seen on the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival appearing to wear only the ring with stones.

Then, she was seen last month in the West Village while appearing to wear just a gold band on her ring finger.

The actress previously married Peter Zurkuhlen in 2016, back when she publicly identified as a man, after getting engaged the previous year.

However, she revealed in 2021 that they were divorcing.
