The Bachelor, Brad Womack and his new fiance, Emily Maynard may have rode off into the sunset but Chris Harrison did speak to Have U Heard in a conference call today where he spoke about Brad and Emily’s relationship, the tabloids, Brads temper and much more!!  Below you will find excerpts from the interview:

Is there a reason the final rose was not presented last night? We shot it and it happened but the executive producer didn’t think it was a big deal.  It did take place and we will show it.

With the hometown visit with Emily we didn’t see Ricki’s grandparents? Who she chose to show and have on the show was her decision.  It is always up to them.

When did you hear Emily and Brad having problems? It was several weeks after we shot in South Africa.  Once the show started airing is when the problems started.  Watching Chantal and Brad was difficult for Emily.  Part of the problems they were having was the bulls**t of the tabloids and paying ex-boyfriends and girlfriends and throwing money at them just to save the magazine.  That’s part of the reason they decided not to do press and said, screw it we are going back to our normal life.

What about Emily moving to Austin? I don’t think she is against moving to Austin.  At this point in her life Emily realizes that her life is not her own and Emily owns that.  You just don’t get to do what you want anymore.  In honor of Ricki she is trying to take it slow.

Were you surprised that Brad chose Emily? No, I was not surprised at all. From the moment she got out of the limo there was something there.  He always had something different with Emily and you could tell there was something there.  And the way he talked about her was a little different.

How close were Brad and Emily to getting married on television? At first Emily was pretty open to it but the more she thought about it she didn’t want it to be a private event and a secret from her family.  She felt that rushing into a wedding with a daughter was irresponsible.

Emily isn’t willing to move to Austin at this time – how come she isn’t?? Going back to her daughter, you can’t make decisions for yourself anymore.  There is a larger responsibility.  The are going to go the Jason and Molly route.  It’s a different route they are going to have to take but Emily is going to have to be reassured that they will work.

Do you think they will be able to work out their issues? It’s easy for everyone to say they are going to break up.  From my perspective, two friends of mine – I think they will fight like hell to save the relationship.  They are together now and they have a bit of a unified front.  It’s them against the world.  Now they can laugh at it and what a joke it is.  I just read they broke up on a blog and you can’t fight that.

Has Brad had any time to see Ricki again? Emily will do what’s right for her daughter first and what’s right for her and Brad second.

What do you think of the websites with the spoilers? It’s going to happen.  In this day and age that’s where we are.  With twitter, facebook and blogs and there is no accountability.  I actually talked to a tabloid writer who wrote something about Emily – if you hear hearsay and even if you pay someone $15 grand it’s still considered a story.

What does someone need to be a bachelor or bachelorette? A thick skin.

Do any of the girls come to you for advice? When it’s the bachelorette they do.  You want them to do well.  After the Final rose was a good example – my goal was to help Emily and Brad.  I will fight tooth and nail to help them – as long as whoever is the bachelor or bachelorette is being genuine.

It came out last night about Brad’s temper? Did you ever experience what Emily was talking about? Emily felt bad that she said that word (temper).  She regretted bringing it up.  They are two of the most stubborn people you will ever meet.  They were battling with something separately and every Tuesday morning they were trying to put it behind them.

I sense Emily’s reservations with Brad? When Brad likes a woman – on camera it seems awkward.  Almost like a schoolboy crush.

Is their age difference a problem? Emily has lived a longer, more experienced life than any of us have endured.  Emily is so mature and it’s not like that with all the women on the show.  That’s why I think they will make it.  I think they will have the resolve and gut this out.

Why is Emily backing off now?

There was an episode where Brad said he loved Emily and that is something that we have never seen before on The Bachelor – what made the producers decide to show him say that??  Brad coming back the second time.  He was so forthright and honest.  He gave it all and he was almost honest to the point that we had to tell him to back it off a bit.  We felt with Brad it was because he had overcome these issues – it was more important to show Brad in this honest light and show he was sincere.

Emily said she was shown as boring – what is Emily really like?  She’s a lovely woman.  She has a sense of humor.

Brad has a great sense of humor and is outgoing.  You are different because you know you are going to be on tv.  It’s tough to open up and be yourself.  The main thing is that Brad saw who she was.
