Celebrity Wife Swap Season 1 Ep 3 Recap ‘Flavor Flav and Dee Snider’ Swap 1/10/12 – Photos
The wives of world renowned rapper Flavor Flav and rock star Dee Snider will find out if these rebellious music stars can handle their new rules when they switch homes (but not bedrooms) for a week.
Legendary hype man Flavor Flav, his fiancée of nine years, Liz, and sons Gibran (15) and Karma (4), live in a gated community in Las Vegas, but that’s where the “normal” part of their lives ends. When he’s not touring with Public Enemy, Flav regularly spends his time with his friends at the bowling alley. The easygoing Liz usually sits at home alone, tranquilly crocheting and reading self-help books while her mother looks after the baby — or she goes out gambling, her favorite pastime. Flav is full of himself – saying he has power.
Dee, who is perhaps best known as the lead singer of ‘80s sensation Twisted Sister, and his wife of 22 years, Suzette, met in high school. They are very much the hands-on parents to Jess (29), Shane (22), Cody (21) and Cheyenne (14). Suzette confesses that Dee is high maintenance. Her kids refer to her as a ‘super-hero’. Suzette has never been with another man and is hoping that seeing another husband will help her to appreciate what she has.
When the quiet-loving Liz travels to Long Island to swap lives with Suzette, she almost loses her mind when Cheyenne’s post-hardcore band rehearses in the house. She is also taken aback when she realizes how little Dee and the kids help with the household in comparison with Suzette’s daily routine, which includes all of the cooking, cleaning and even styling her sons’ Mohawks every day.
But that’s little to compare with the gravity defying and nerve-wracking experience Suzette is having with Flav back in Vegas. Suzette, who calls raising her children her “career,” becomes irritated when she sees Flav constantly on the phone and hanging out at the bowling alley with his friends. Flav keeps leaving Suzette with the kids alone or calling his sister-in-law to care for the baby. He often goes out for extended periods of time without informing Suzette of his whereabouts. As a result, he misses the scheduled plans she’s made for him and the family. When it comes time for Suzette to institute her own set of house rules, she discovers that Flav is not one to easily bide by someone else’s rules.
The ladies read each other’s rule books and both of them are shocked at how the other one lives. Flavor Flav is thrilled that Dee Snider’s wife is in the house. Flavor Flav has one room that he has blocked off with tape that says, keep out.
Liz is timid and seems a bit overwhelmed with the Snider family.
Suzette witnesses Flav on the phone a lot. She meets Liz’s mom and has a lot of questions for her? Like why isn’t Flav home more? Suzette doesn’t think either parent is committed to their son. Flav is out of the house – bowling. Suzette spends her time crocheting and resting.
Meanwhile, Liz has to cook for her new family. It ends up being a disaster and pizza is ordered.
Flav gets up every morning and cooks his son breakfast and then they go on the trampoline. On her 2nd day, he surprises Suzette with a trip to the casino. Suzette is not happy with the autographs and the phone calls – she even threatens to throw away his phone.
Liz is given her instructions – Liz has to power wash the deck and style the boys hair. On the final day of the house rules Liz listens to Cheyenne’s band and can’t stand the noise. She also goes out on a date with Dee?
The morning of the change – let’s see the new rules.
Liz’s rule change at the Snider House:
– Mom’s day off
-Shane and Cody finish the deck
-Dee in charge of dinner
– Quiet, crocheting and crafts
Suzette’s rules at Flavor Flav’s house – Flav disappears and Suzette is completely pissed off! Time for the rule change:
– Next few days it’s all about family
– Phone must be turned off
– When out in public – Flav can’t leave the family to give autographs
– No friends for Flav
At the Snider household, the boys are doing their chores while Liz reads by the pool.
Flavor Flav sulks for 45 minutes and wants to know how to handle his friends when they come over. Suzette tells him to let them know it’s family time. It’s the second day of the rule change and Suzette plans on taking Flav skydiving but he disappears and they miss their skydiving date. Flav begs her to go but she says, “kiss my little white ass”. Flav gets his Aunt to watch the baby and that upsets Suzette even more. Since Flav refuses to follow any of the rules, Suzette leaves and goes to a hotel. Flav refuses to allow Suzette’s feelings to get in the way of his fun.
Meanwhile Liz has everyone crocheting and then it’s time for Blackjack in the house. Liz is happy with the Sniders.
And now it’s time for the swap. Suzette attacks Flav and the two start arguing. Suzette feels manipulated and played and tells him he is like a kid and is incompetent.
Liz claims that is not the Flav she knows. Liz said they used to spend all of their time together until the baby came. Liz agrees that she needs to have more family time. Flav admits he needs to put more focus on family time.
Liz wants to be a better wife and a better mother. If only Flav would be a better husband and not spend time at the bowling alley with his friends.
Liz is lazy and Flav is selfish – a match made in heaven.
