Kate Hudson’s father, Bill, has been estranged from his daughter for years, but he still feels anguish that she refers to Kurt Russell as her father and not him.

Hudson, famous for being in a band called The Hudson Brothers, has published a tell-all book called: Two Versions: The Other side of Fame and Family.

“At first it was okay when everybody was getting along, but there were certain things I didn’t like,” says Bill, who has not spoken to his daughter for seven years, in an interview with Radaronline to promote the book.

“I didn’t like that Goldie wanted the kids to call Kurt ‘pa’. It was very confusing to the kids, particularly Kate, and that was really painful.”

“Kurt is my dad,” Kate said in a Vanity Fair interview. “Kurt is a savior who came into my life.”

Bill insists he doesn’t blame Kurt, and is actually glad that a good man came into his former family’s life.

“Kurt has been there for her and I’m happy for that and I think it’s a good thing. Kurt’s a really good guy. What’s more hurtful is Kate saying publicly that I’ve abandoned her because that’s just not true,” Bill said. As broken up as he is about his relationship with Kate, Bill has accused Kate of not visiting or calling her dying grandma who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.

“I love Kate, but… She has done stuff which is just awful. She is a spoiled brat in my eyes and at the end of the day. I should meet my grandchild and she should help her grandmother,” he says, despite claiming that is book “is not a trashy tell-all”.

“The record needs to be set and it needs to come out,” Bill continues. “I wanted to show that it was a love story between me and Goldie, enough that we had children together, and it just went awry. And it was Oliver and Kate that suffered in the end.”

“It’s my side of what happened and it’s backed with facts and Goldie’s own words and Kate’s own words and my words and feelings,” he adds. “Kate doesn’t have to talk to me and she doesn’t have to give her a dime of her millions. All I want is for her to call and say, ‘Hi grandma’, before it’s too late.”
