American Idol 2012 Recap 5/2/12 Top 5 Perform
“American Idol” is down to the top five. With Elise Testone eliminated last week, Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet , Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine will be battling it out once again.
This week the contestants will sing 2 songs. One will be British themed, the other a song from the 60s.
The mentor this week is Stevie Van Zandt, best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Known as Little Stevie, he was also on the hit HBO show, “The Sopranos.”
Once again, we welcome judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez followed by host Ryan Seacrest. We ate officially down to our final five and it seems like such a long road but one that has really flown by.
The entire time, Little Stevie and Jimmy Iovine were bickering and cutting it up with the singers. I think that actually helped them to relax and be comfortable because they did not have to take themselves so seriously.
Song: #1– “Do I Love You?”; Song #2- “Bleeding Love”

She absolutely did, that little dynamo! Steven: I loved it and she nailed it; Jennifer: beautiful and intimate quality, amazing; Randy: she has been the dark horse all along and this was unbelievable and since last year, they have believed in her. Randy: more relaxed and subdued Phillip, he really can sing the melody, nice performance; Jennifer: did a good job with it; Steven: sang it really well.

Judges Comments: ME: She kills it whenever she is on stage and looks awesome doing it! She owns the stage and the song! Jennifer: attacks every song and is very natural; Steven: loves when she takes a risk, fabulous, he loved it; Randy: Skylar is born to be on the stage.; ME: just make her the winner already! Steven: they need to embrace each other more, that was so good; Jennifer: felt like they were so scared to sing the song together but when they let go, it was great; Randy: song came alive and they delivered it.
