NASCAR champion Danica Patrick announced on Facebook Tuesday that she is divorcing her husband Paul Hospenthal of seven years.
“I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,” she wrote. “This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward.”
Patrick, 30, met physical therapist Hospenthal, 47, while he was treating her for a nonracing injury.
Patrick became the highest finishing female driver in the history of the sport’s three national series by finishing 10th in Nationwide points.
