The gala, held at The Space in Westbury, had several celebrities in attendance including comedy writer Jeffrey Gurian, newscaster Greg Kelly, stand-up comic Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City.”

Sorvino’s new musical comedy How Sweet It Is, premiered at the festival. When speaking to Paul he mentioned he is hoping the movie will be released in December in time for a possible Oscar nod. The movie is a musical comedy also starring Joe Piscopo where Sorvino plays an alcoholic theater owner who needs to put together a successful musical in order to pay off his mob debt, but problems arise when the wise guys want to cast their friends in the production.

As for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award he said,

“I think it’s wonderful. At this age, you look back and say, ‘Well, you’ve been an honest workman, and it’s time to reap your rewards.'”

Sorvino definitely deserves all the accolades he is receiving.
