“The Voice” celebrated night one of the live playoff rounds with an amazing performance by Maroon 5. They performed their hit song “Sugar” and the crowd went crazy. You can keep up with season eight of “The Voice” live playoffs right here.

IMG_1498There are twenty singers competing, five on each team. Read here for the “The Voice” team breakdowns. This season started with the blinds and more hopefuls than there was room for. Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera and reigning champion Blake Shelton did their best to build the sickest teams possible. Then it was time for the battle rounds where the coaches paired two of their teammates against one another with a song that they had picked. The winner would move on to the knockout rounds while the other could be stolen by another coach as each coach had two steals. They also had the help of music royalty to mentor their teams: Team Adam had Ellie Goulding; Team Blake had Meghan Trainor; Team Xtina had Nick Jonas and Team Pharrell had two-time mentor Lionel Richie.

Then it was time for the knockouts where the singers chose their own songs but the coaches put them up against someone else on the team. Again, each coach had steals but only one for this round. The key mentor was Grammy winner Nate Ruess from FUN following in the footsteps of Chris Martin and Taylor Swift. After the knockouts, it was time to go live. Songs are chosen by the coaches and then they help their team put the right spin on said song. It is the first time this season that America will have any part in the voting process and deciding who stays and who goes. Last night, Team Blake and Team Pharrell performed and now it is Team Adam and Team Xtina’s turn. It will be a night filled with great singing (hopefully) and just an all-around great time.
