Nicki Minaj Curses At Miley Cyrus During VMA Acceptance Speech
Nicki Minaj won an award for the Best Hip-Hop Video at the Video Music Awards on August 30, 2015 at the Video Music Awards.
Minaj is known for her take no prisoners attitude and will stand up for herself when someone talks about her. Ask Taylor Swift, who recently had a Twitter war of words, where the two artists went back and forth following Nicki not receiving a nomination for Video of the Year.
Taylor and Nicki made up weeks ago immediately following the incident and even performed together during the Video Music Awards when Taylor joined Nicki on stage following her performance of “The Night is Still Young” where the two sang a quick duet to Taylor’s hit song, “Bad Blood”.
As for Nicki and Miley – there is ‘bad blood’ between the two artists following an interview in the New York Times, where Miley commented on the Taylor Swift/Nicki Minaj incident and said, “if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war.”
Nicki thought the best time to call Miley out would be during her acceptance speech for the Best Hip-Hop Video award. After thanking her fans and making a brief speech, Nicki said, “And now, back to this b***ch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press.” Followed by “Miley, what’s good?”
Miley responded to the diss with her own attitude saying, “We’re all in this industry. We all do interviews. And we all know how they manipulate. Nicki, congratulations.”
Well handled Miley. As the host of the awards show, Miley should not have gotten into it and didn’t. Minaj on the other hand basically proved that she is not very polite. If she has a beef with Miley Cyrus she needs to discuss it at the appropriate time, not in front of millions of people.
