Nashville Recap 10/21/15 – Season 4 Ep. 3 – Who Dies in ‘Stop the World’
It’s decision making time on Nashville, Avery has to decide about what to do with his marriage with Juliette, Scarlett needs to decide whether to pull the plug on her mother and Maddie needs to decide whether she will take her relationship to the next level. Meanwhile, Rayna pushes back on Layla’s romantic relationship with Jeff, and Markus pushes back on his producer, Avery — which does not go well.
Maddie joins Colt on Luke’s tour, giving the teens opportunities for more freedom than Maddie can handle. She turns to Juliette for advice and shocks Luke with the results. Meanwhile, Deacon and Scarlett head to Natchez despite their falling-out.
Following two aneurysm’s Beverly is brain dead. Faced with the decision as to whether to take her off of life support Deacon wants to keep her alive. Scarlett has the power to pull the plug but isn’t sure of her decision.
Eventually, Scarlett turns to Gunnar for help and reveals the guilt she feels about her strained relationship with her mom. Gunnar comforts her telling her, “if you believe it’s the right thing to do, it’s good enough for me.” Scarlett decides to cut off life support, but Deacon still doesn’t want her to. Scarlett tells Deacon it isn’t his fault, and they need to do what’s best for Beverly, so Scarlett agrees to pull the plug.
Rayna tells Deacon that he needs Scarlett and he should go to the hospital, but Deacon says it isn’t right. Rayna points out that it doesn’t matter if it’s right. He needs to say goodbye to his sister. He couldn’t do it and Scarlett was alone as her mother died.
Juliette and Luke both have a couple days off from their tour in Indianapolis, so they hang out together. Luke takes her to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to race cars, but Juliette wants to do something more fun. Her idea of fun is to party and she drags Luke on stage for a cover of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation.” Eventually, the bar starts to get too crowded, and the manager tells Luke they need to leave. Luke waits until Juliette passes out and sneaks her out in a box for music equipment.
Meanwhile, Avery talks to Glenn and Emily about Juliette. He says that it’s difficult to sympathize with her when she doesn’t want help. He has decided to file for divorce and Avery wants full custody of their daughter.
Avery can’t bring himself to sign the papers – for now.
When Juliette wakes up looking like crap, this may be the wake-up call Juliette needed because she comes to the realization that her recent behavior may have been a bit irrational. She texts Avery, finally giving him her new number, stopping Avery from sending over the divorce papers he just signed. Juliette also calls Emily and leaves a message, telling her how much she misses her.
