Charlie Sheen: How He Went From Heartthrob to HIV Positive- The History
Charlie Sheen announced today on “The Today Show” that he is, in fact, HIV positive, something that the National Enquirer broke yesterday. Sources came out in droves claiming that they have known about his status for years but have not said anything. Ex-wife Denise Richards is said to have known for four years and other ex-wife Brooke Mueller learned about it as well but was going through a lot of insanity at the time of the revelation. She and her twin sons, Max and Bob, 6 with Sheen, have tested negative for the disease. Ex Bree Olson has also come out and said that she is negative as well. Sheen said that his goal is to find a cure and claims that the HIV cannot be transmitted. So, how did the son of legendary actor Martin Sheen end up like this? We have it all right here.
The actor had a bit part as a bad boy that Jennifer Grey made-out with in the smash hit “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” He went on to make screen gems such as “Platoon” and “Wall Street.” His first child, Cassandra, now thirty, was born at the end of 1984 to his high school love Paula Profit but it was his ex-fiancée, Kelly Preston that really helped him make news. In 1990, Sheen, now 50, accidentally shot Preston, who is now married to John Travolta and their break-up was the beginning, from what we know of Sheen dating adult film stars. In 1995, Sheen married Donna Peele who would be his first wife but they would have no children together. He continued to make hits like “Major League” and “Hot Shots,” even working with brother Emilio Estevez, best known as the coach in “The Mighty Ducks” trilogy. Sheen’s marriage to Peele came to an end when his name came out in the list of clients that used Hollywood Madame Heidi Fleiss’ escort service.
In 1998, Charlie Sheen had a stroke when he overdosed and had a penchant for cocaine. He tried rehab as he was on probation but he told “Good Morning America” that rehab just was not for him. he continued to battle substance abuse but seemed to get his life in order when he met actress Denise Richards on a film and they went on to marry in 2002. The two had daughter Sam, now eleven and then Richards became pregnant with daughter Lola, now ten when she filed for divorce from the actor in 2005 and it was finalized the following year. He married Brooke Mueller two years later and they went on to have two children but were arrested on Christmas in 2009 for domestic abuse. Brooke filed a restraining order from Sheen and they went on to divorce in 2011. As all of this was happening, Sheen had made a comeback via television, first replacing Michael J. Fox on “Spin City” and then co-starring with John Cryer on “Two and A Half Men.” He was making nearly two million dollars per episode and then he seemed to have a meltdown.
Sheen started his whole “winning” campaign in which he promoted Tiger’s Blood and called his boss Chuck Lorre some anti-semetic slurs that were recorded and publicized. In early 2011, the show went on hiatus so that Sheen could return to rehab once again but that same year, he was dismissed from the show and replaced by Ashton Kutcher; he made it through eight seasons of the show before departing, making the show a colossal success. He filed suit against Lorre, which was settled for an undisclosed amount and then he went on a comedy tour. He had no problem speaking his mind, telling one reporter via Wikipedia that: “I’m tired of pretending I’m not special. I’m tired of pretending I’m not a total bitchin’ rock star from Mars.” When he was accused of being bipolar, he said he was “bi-winning.” In 2012, he starred on the show “Anger Management” after parting ways with his two goddesses as he called them. He also continued to date porn stars and in 2014, he became engaged to porn star Brett Rossi but they called off the marriage as he wanted to focus his efforts elsewhere. She was soon hospitalized for an overdose.
Today, he confirmed that he is HIV positive and has been blackmailed for over ten million dollars since his diagnosis. He openly admits to sleeping with over five thousand women and John Cryer noted in his memoir that Sheen never had a problem getting prostitutes or porn stars. So, are you shocked by this news? Some people have said that they are not surprised while others who have followed his career and grew up with him, are broken-hearted that it has come to this. We wish him all the best and if he can put his effort into helping to find a cure, we are all for that!
